Slide 3: Main Objective of the EDUCATION :- (#) Manifestation of the CREDENTIALS in the PERSON, which it already exists within or he/she has pursued during a period of time. (#) Implication of the KNOWLEDGE pursued during the course of WORK. (#) Attaining the WELFARE objective, which accords one of the HIGHEST priority. Slide 5: TRENDS IN HIGHER EDUCATION IN INDIA:- (#) India has a fairly large and diversified education system. (#) Its billion-plus population consists of a higher proportion of children and young individuals, especially in the age group of 6-24 years, which is the most prospective age group in terms of academic inclinations. This age group accounts for more than one-third of the India’s population. (#) According to the National Knowledge Commission, for the first time in this decade, the total number of illiterates decreased from 329 million to 304 million. (#) The literacy rate also increased from 18.3% in 1951 to 67.3% in 2004, as per HRD statistics. (#) The National Literacy Mission aims at achieving 85% literacy at the end of the Eleventh 5-year plan (2007-2012). Slide 8: EVOLUTION OF THE TECHNICAL EDUCATION IN INDIA, AS IN THE FORM OF EVOLUTION OF “IIT-INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY” IN INDIA. Slide 10: Education in management should have mainly following aims:- • Increase the understanding of the factors which influence the conduct of organizations • Provide students with the tools and techniques that they may use to influence organizational life. Influence the economy in general . Slide 11: CHANGING TRENDS OF MANAGEMENT EDUCATION IN INDIA :- (#) As increase in the number of IIM’s has increased during a course of time. (#) Increase in the INTENSE COMPETITION among each other has increased the EFFICIENCY of work. (#) Even “GLOBALISATION” and “LIBERALIZATION” has increased the scope of development among the INDIVIDUALS. Slide 14: State governments are the backbone of funding in higher education:- Slide 19: Education loans emerging as a lucrative business opportunity for banks:- (#)Education loans have emerged as a significant business opportunity for banks providing student education loans worth more than Rs 200 billion. (#)Disbursement of education loans has risen from 2% of the total personal loan portfolio in 2005 to almost double in 2008. The education loan portfolio of the banks grew by around 35% in 2007-08 and expected to reach 40% in 2008- 09. (#)Apart from adopting various educational schemes to reach out to students and the rising interest in academics shown by the younger generation, the lower number of non performing assets (NPA) in the education loan segment is acting as a positive factor too. Slide 21: “DISTANCE EDUCATION”TOO HAVE PLAYED A PROMINENT ROLE IN THE INDIAN EDUCATION. Slide 22: Objectives of DISTANCE EDUCATION:- (#) To offer parallel, non-formal, alternative system to formal schooling and to give second Chance to out-of-school learners , who were working adults. (#)To design and offer TECHNICAL , VOCATIONAL and LIFE-ENRICHMENT courses. (#)To promote open distance education through RESEARCH , PUBLICATION AND INFORMATION dissemination.
