Main Characters:

Main Characters Christopher John Francis Boone- 15 year old autistic boy “My name is Christopher and I know every prime number up to 7,057.” “I like the color red it makes me happy.”

Slide 4:

Christopher’s father- loving father, he can be a little impatient and not honest about things he doesn’t think Christopher should know “He held up his right hand and spread his fingers out in a fan. I held my left hand and spread my fingers in a fan and we made our fingers and thumbs touch each other. We do this because sometimes Father wants to give me a hug, but I do not like hugging people so we do this instead, and it means that he loves me.(16) Christopher’s mother- Christopher says his mother is dead. “ Mother was a small person that smelled nice. And she sometimes wore a fleece with a zip down front which was pink and it had a tiny label which said Berghaus on the left bosom.”(19) Mrs. Shears- Christopher’s neighbor. Mr. Shears- Christopher's mother’s husband.

Plot:

He finds out that his dad committed the murder. He runs away and lives with his mother and they move and it’s just them two living together.

Point of View:

Point of View The point of view is first person because it is told by the main character Christopher John Francis Boone. This is a good way to tell the story because Christopher makes the reader know how it feels to be an autistic kid. “This will not be a funny book. I cannot tell jokes because I do not understand them. Here is a joke as an example. It is one of Father’s.”(8)

Style:

Style The book is full of drawings and pictures that Christopher uses. For example his friend Siobhan drew happy faces and sad faces to teach Christopher different emotions people have.

Theme:

Theme The theme is sometimes the people that love you can betray or lie to you at times. Christopher’s father lied to him about his mother because he was maybe hurt and ashamed about the truth. The search for order and stability. Christopher persists in looking for the dog because he is looking for answers. Absences in a person’s life. Christopher misses his mother because his father is difficult sometimes and he solves the mystery of his mother’s death.
