Plot:
Plot Nick Naylor is a lobbyist for the academy of tobacco studies and a darn good one. The novel starts out with Nick on a talk show with a cancer boy. The whole thing was set up by senator Finnistre. The novel then continues on showing the morals of Nick Naylor when his son gets involved with his work.

Summary:
Summary Nick Naylor the Head Lobbyist for tobacco, makes a fake promise on a national TV show which is that the academy of tobacco studies is paying for a 50 million dollar ad campaign against teen smoking. B.R is originally angry but then the Captain wants to see Naylor and is very happy with the campaign. Naylor is then one of The Captains favorites. Naylor gets caught up with Heather Holloway a reporter who seduces him to get a news story which at first ruins Naylor's career. After Naylor hits rock bottom he attends a meeting on placing a skull and bones on every carton of cigarettes with senator Finisterre. Naylor wins his argument and then tells the media that he quits and about the reporter Holloway and how she got the story about the MOD squad from him.
