Kissing the Fang Annotation:
Kissing the Fang Annotation By: Roderick Hargrove
Introduction:
Introduction When I first read the poem Kissing the Fang I was definitely confused. I was wondering why he let the snake get away. Couldn’t figure out how he was resurrected after the he died from the snake bite. As I read it for a second time, I realized that the white light faded away when he was bitten again for the second time. Also he didn’t let the snake go freely, he was paralyzed and couldn’t move. The poem made me think. I actually appreciated the poem because I understood it clearly.
What It Means To Me:
What It Means To Me Snake biting once biting dead- first bite death Snake biting twice biting life- second bite life Walking in the sorghum stalk- a moment in the jungle The oldest foe- the snake heard my feet- an anaconda rushed in my path. The snake raised the neck and hissed- the snake rose and made a growling hiss As our eyes met at equilibrium- we stared each other down. I stopped and drew my spear- I seized my historically Golden sword The hateful send boiled to the brim- our eyes flamed with suspense The brawl commenced I speared it back fatefully- he displayed me his first move, I defended myself
Slide 5:
The snake bitten my right feet fatefully- He struck my right foot. The biting bit me dead I fell down breathing not- The snake bite took my life The snake bitten my left feet again- He struck my left foot The biting bit me life I raised up breathing lively- The second bite pumped my heart The snake snaked away- The snake slithered away The venom paralyzed me but- Stuck, paralyzed from the venom. I giddily crawled after the snake- I struggled crawling after snakes. I gasped and kissed the snake fang- I held and kissed the fang. I spate the healing saliva in the snake wound- I spat on the snake. We departed in peace indeed peace in death- We died peacefully.
Conclusion:
Conclusion The poem dug deep inside my thoughts and created a dream in my head. Kissed the Fang , took me to a whole new world that I didn’t know existed.
