Installation, Calibration and Configuration Instructions for:

Installation, Calibration and Configuration Instructions for The best and most accurate system in the industry. Manufactured by:

The iSeries Kit includes::

The iSeries Kit includes: iSeries Tank Monitor *Three exterior moda sensors 13½’ of Aluminum Tape Fuse assembly 12 Butt Connectors Four faceplate screws Installation Instructions Warranty Information * Moda sensors are for non metalic tanks only. If you have a metal tank, you will need to custom order rods to fit the height of your tank.

Items you will need for the installation::

Items you will need for the installation: 18 Awg Hook up wire – Enough for 2 runs from each tank to the monitor panel and 1 run from each tank to ground 12 Volt Power Source ( ie . Battery) Screwdriver or screw drill to mount faceplate Something to cut hole in wall where installing Crimpers for Butt Connectors Additional Butt Connectors may be needed Razor Blade to trim foil if necessary

Before you get started::

Before you get started: Clean the side of the tank where sensor is being installed thoroughly. Cleaning with alcohol might be necessary.

Measure tank width and height:

Measure tank width and height Aluminum tape should start at approximately 2” apart going the whole height of the tank. Taller tanks usually work better a little further apart and shorter tanks a little closer together. Thicker tanks will be a little further apart but use more foil. This can be modified after installation and during testing. Mark the top and bottom of the tank with 2” spacing

Install tape:

Install tape Do not run tape completely to the bottom of the tank due to rough and round edges and the thickness of the bottom of the tank. Make sure tape is completely flat. This is how it reads through the tank wall.

Attach Moda Sensor:

Attach Moda Sensor It does not matter where on the aluminum tape you install the Copper Foil of the Moda Sensor.

Attach Copper Foil:

Attach Copper Foil Peel backing off of copper foil and carefully apply to aluminum foil avoiding any creases. One on each side.

Trim excess foil:

Trim excess foil

Attach Moda Sensor to Tank:

Attach Moda Sensor to Tank Peel off backing of Sensor Stick to clean surface

For metal tanks or tanks that are not accessible on the outside::

For metal tanks or tanks that are not accessible on the outside: If you have a metal tank or one that you cannot get to the side of, you can custom order rods for insertion from the top of the tank. Aluminum rods are used for Diesel Fuel tanks. PVC rods are used for all others. Please have the depth of your tank measured when you call for pricing on the rods. Measurements go from the outside top of the tank where being installed to the bottom of the tank minus ½”. You do not want the rods touching the bottom of the tank. All rods have the same 3 wires as the moda sensors and are hooked up and calibrated the same way.

Select Location for Panel:

Select Location for Panel Using the cut-out guide in the installation Instructions, mark holes on the corners of the area to be cut out as well as where the Screws are to be drilled. Draw your cut out line and Cut your hole

Run your wires:

Run your wires · The red wire , with the crimp, from the pigtail slides onto either post of the power switch. The crimped end of the fuse assembly is attached attached to the other post on the power switch. · The fuse assembly then needs to be run to your positive 12 Volt battery lead. · The black wire from the panel needs to run to your negative battery lead.

Wire Moda Sensors:

Wire Moda Sensors Each tank is hooked up to a different set of colors on the pigtail wire connector. Each set of colors has 2 wires. One with a Red Stripe and one with a Blue Stripe. These run to the Moda sensor Red and Blue Wires. Tank 1 is yellow, tank 2 is orange, tank 3 is purple, etc. **Note: Tanks 5-8 are only for use with Propane tanks pre- equiped with 90 ohm sending units.

Ground Moda Sensor:

Ground Moda Sensor Each Moda Sensor also has a black wire. This wire needs to be grounded or sent back to the black wire on the panel. All black wires can be attached and grounded together. Note: If the ground comes loose, all tanks will read full all the time.

Propane “LP” hook-up:

Propane “LP” hook-up Tanks 5-8 are designed for use with Propane tanks that are preequiped with 90 ohm sending units only. To hook up a propane tank, connect the 2 wires from the panel (wires for tanks 5, 6, 7 or 8,) one with a red stripe and one with a blue stripe, together and run one wire to the 90 ohm sending unit on the LP tank.

If you have more than 4 standard tanks::

If you have more than 4 standard tanks: If you have more than 4 standard tanks and do not need to monitor Propane tanks, you can send the unit in for modification to read 8 standard tanks.

After wiring complete::

After wiring complete : After the wiring is complete, if you have exposed wires coming from the extra wires not used, cut the small exposed portion off. You do not want these wires touching even though they are not in use. You will want to leave the main portion of the wires intact in case you will need to add more tanks at a later time.

To increase the count between your empty and full readings::

To increase the count between your empty and full readings: If the count between your empty and full calibration readings is less than 50, you can add foil to the inside of your original foil strips. This will bring the strips closer together and should increase your count. Do only one side at a time and check your count. Make sure you overlap the foil and it stays pretty consistent the whole height of the tank. It is OK to cover some of the copper tape. If you have a very short tank ( ie . 6” or so) or a very thick tank you will want to add a second strip of foil overlapping the first one on the outside of each strip. Check your readings in between adding each strip before adding more tape.
