An example is the word: dermatitis The suffix – itis means inflammation, therefore: Dermatitis means inflammation of the skin. Say it out loud: “Dermatitis!” [ dur- muh - TAHY -tis]Combining Form: Melan/o: Combining Form: Melan /o Melan /o means black. We can combine melan /o with the suffix – cyte , which means cell.
