Pronounced: We choel Who is defined as Huichol ? a member of an American Indian people of the mountains between Zacatecas and Nayarit, Mexico How do you say it and who are they?

What is Huichol Yarn Painting?:

~ The Huichol Indians have used decorative art pieces as offerings to the Gods for centuries. These inspired pieces of art are created with colorful yarns painstakingly placed on a beeswax and pine resin mixture that was spread on a wooden base. The Indians work their spiritual symbols and designs into each piece. What is Huichol Yarn Painting?

You can either sketch out a “word” or “symbols” that you want to do… we will look at some examples from Mr. Conaway’s class You can find an image that is true to the Huichol artwork (examples we looked at on this powerpoint ) and recreate/be inspired directly by those. We will go the library for inspiration. You WILL NEED TO BRING YARN- VARIOUS COLORS! You are going to have a few choices when making yours:
