It may be used to move a heavy object with a force that is smaller than the weight of the object. A lever has three parts fulcrum or pivot point load effort (the force) LEVERs fulcrum or pivot point Slide 3: Three types of lever 1.First order of lever 2. Second order of lever 3.Third order of lever Slide 4: First order of levers In this type of lever, the fulcrum is in the middle between the load and the effort. load effort fulcrum Slide 5: First order of levers load effort fulcrum In this type of lever, the fulcrum is in the middle between the load and the effort. Slide 6: First order of levers effort load fulcrum The lever will balance if the load and effort are equal, and same distance from the fulcrum. Then the system is in equilibrium. Slide 7: First order of levers effort load fulcrum If load is greater than the effort Then the system is not in equilibrium Slide 8: First order of levers effort load fulcrum If effort is greater than the load Then the system is not in equilibrium Slide 9: First order of levers A seesaw is an example of a first class lever Slide 10: First order of levers Examples Slide 11: First order of levers Examples Slide 12: SECOND order of levers In this type of lever, The load is between the effort and the fulcrum . load effort fulcrum Slide 13: SECOND order of levers In this type of lever, The load is between the effort and the fulcrum. The fulcrum is at one end of the lever. load effort fulcrum Slide 14: second order of levers Examples effort load Slide 15: second order of levers Examples Slide 16: Third order of levers In this type of lever ,the effort between the fulcrum and the load. load effort fulcrum Slide 17: Third order of levers load effort fulcrum In this type of lever ,the effort between the fulcrum and the load. Slide 18: third order of levers Examples load effort fulcrum load fulcrum effort Fishing rod The effort is applied somewhere in between by a muscle attached above the fulcrum, on the upper arm. Shovel fulcrum load effort Slide 19: Third order of levers third order of levers Examples You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
