The Snake and The Swallow Written and Illustrated by Benjamin Martin ©2013 This book Is dedicated to my wonderful Nan, may you never be scared of Snakes again!

PowerPoint Presentation:

The snake went out for a slither in the heat of the midday sun…

PowerPoint Presentation:

The swallow went out for a flutter on the cool summer breeze…

PowerPoint Presentation:

The snake looked up into the sky and wondered what it would be like to fly…

PowerPoint Presentation:

The swallow looked down upon the earth and dreamed what it would feel like to rest upon the ground…

PowerPoint Presentation:

“Dear Ssssswallow ” the snake hissed “how do you fly so ssssswift and high?”….

PowerPoint Presentation:

With a flutter and a swish I rush through the air, it’s what we swallows do” said the swallow darting about the sky.

PowerPoint Presentation:

The swallow’s lot in life is to fly high and low, catching the wind beneath its wings, majestically soaring for days above the earth below. The swallow loves to fly so much that it almost never touches the ground.

PowerPoint Presentation:

“How does it feel to be up in the air all day?” asked the snake… “It’s cool and fresh and free” said the Swallow as it glided up in front of the sun.. “ Ssssssigh ” Sighed the snake “that sounds delightful”.

PowerPoint Presentation:

The snake’s lot in life is to slip and slide upon the earth, slinking through the grass and down in the marshy land. The snake loves the ground so much that he could never leave it and take to the sky.

PowerPoint Presentation:

“Dear snake” tweeted the sparrow “how do you slither so gracefully upon the ground?” “With a twist and turn, my body glides across the soft earth” Said the snake

PowerPoint Presentation:

The Swallow watched as the snake twisted its body into knots and then with ease uncoiled itself. “How beautifully you move” said the swallow “I could watch you every day”

PowerPoint Presentation:

“You can” replied the snake “I am here every day at midday, until the winter comes” “And I am here too” said the swallow “until the winds carry me south to warmer lands” “Then we ssssshall be friends” Said the snake “yes” said the swallow

PowerPoint Presentation:

And so the Swallow and the Snake became old friends. They met every day to appreciate one another’s talents, talking until the sun was low in the sky, sharing stories about their adventures and planning new adventures for the days to come. When the winter came and the days grew shorter they would go their separate ways, but always they would meet again in the spring time, they could always depend upon that.
