Causes & Consequences of The Great Depression Lasted from 1929 to 1939 Began with stock market crash Feds raise interest rates too high Then didn’t lower rates quick enough Consumer spending & investments drop Decline in industrial output & high unemployment

Causes & Consequences of The Great Depression:

Causes & Consequences of The Great Depression Dust bowl- drought & high winds devastating Farmers unable to produce crops Industrial production dropped by half 1931- 6 million looking for work 1933- thousands of banks close F.D.R. wins presidential election

The New Deal:

The New Deal 1 st 100 days producing federal programs Agricultural Adjustment Administration to protect farmers Aid Unemployment Civilian Conservation Corps Civil Works Administration F.D.I.C. to reform banking system

The New Deal:

The New Deal Supreme Court invalidated New Deal programs These programs violated conservation constitutional theory Congress didn’t allow President more control F.D.R. created new programs that worked Congress compromised & finally passed the bill
