Premium member Presentation Transcript Senior Scrapbook! : Senior Scrapbook! A digital representation of Rodney Lindsey’s senior year 2009-2010 Year in a nutshell… : Year in a nutshell… Everything this year was something new, bringing new meaning to the immortal song lyrics of High School Musical, “ this could be the start of something new”. We started off the year with a brand new choir director (Amy Allibon) making the grand total 3 in 4 years. As the year went on, not only did I find new strengths and weaknesses in my own self but also in my friends, my choir, and my teachers. We quickly grew to love Ms. Allibon and turned our attention to other aspects including homecoming, all- state, concerts and contests, and Christmas. Not to mention Musical, triangle factory fire project, one–act play , trips, and topping the entire year off with the thousands of things that every senior is required to do. Senior year started small, and quickly culminated into and outstanding, mind-blowing, head spinning topper to a long high school career. “First Day of Choir…” : “First Day of Choir…” “It was the first day of choir and I’m feeling all alone. My best friend sings a different part and so she’s way across the room, and rumor has it our director is as mean as she can get. I have a feeling that my presence here she hasn’t noticed yet…” basically this song (which we sung at the beginning of this year) sums up all the first day of school fears. Suit up, its your job! : Suit up, its your job! Being a member of the 2009-2010 Choir officers was a huge honor and an even bigger responsibility. I was now part of the leadership of an organization that was state renown. Before school started, all the officers attended a workshop that helped to strengthen us as individuals as well as a leading group. It helped us to become the efficient team that got this choir through the year! SEN10RSSSSS!!! : SEN10RSSSSS!!! From the beginning, being a senior was an immediate and an intense difference than any other year. Everyone was younger, smaller, and so immature…it seemed. I felt different, knowing that this was the last year before we were gone. What a strange feeling it was knowing that in a year, I would be leaving this place and starting my adult life. My thoughts, “Kiss this good-bye!!” Praise God I made it!!!! : Praise God I made it!!!! I’ve gone to the same church for 18 years. When I left the hospital where I was born, my grandmother dressed me in my Sunday best and took me to church to show me off! I’ve been saved baptized in that church. Slowly growing more steady in my walk with Christ. I play guitar and sing in the morning services and lead the music for the youth services on Wednesday! THE ROOF IS ON FIRRREEEE!!!(but the door was locked) : THE ROOF IS ON FIRRREEEE!!!(but the door was locked) In the fall, I got the opportunity to take part in the Birdville High School theatre’s fall production of “Triangle Factory Fire Project”. The play was a scene by scene recreation of the fire that took the lives of so many girls in the Triangle Factory. The play showed everything from the fight for women’s suffrage, to the fire itself, to the court case afterwards. I played the part of Bostwick, the factories lawyer and had the time of my life! The Hawks are the champions….almost : The Hawks are the champions….almost This year, Josh Dorman lead our hawks all the way to playoffs. Scoring more than 50 points per most games. We took out both Haltom and Richland along with every other school in our district. Through all this, we lost a fellow hawk who had just been crowned our homecoming king! As hawks, we united and fought through all the hard times and came out the other side stronger for it. Singing in the Fall : Singing in the Fall The first concert of the 09-10 singing hawks was a concert that will never be forgotten. It was a first in many different ways. It was the first performance with Amy Allibon as director, the first view of the new chorale, and also for the new vocal edition. The song that made the entire concert mean something more was the song “Prelude to Peace” by Z. Randell Stroope. As it was sung, the air in the auditorium seemed to slow as the music we made spread and touched peoples lives in ways we’ll never know. Come Home…. : Come Home…. Homecoming. A time for celebration. For alumni to come home and for friends to gather. I went with Miss Any McKinney and had an amazing time. The Birdville Chorale got to sing the homecoming on TELEVISION in front of the whole school. BIRDVILLE HAWKS WON! It was just an all around amazing night! Movie lovers LOVE….. : Movie lovers LOVE….. FAMILY VIDEO!! Starting in December I got the amazing job I still have to this day! After 3 interviews, an SAT-like test, and a firm reprimanding for wearing slippers to my 2nd shift, I am now the top seller and loving life. I make plenty of money, get free movies before they come out, and an extra 2 hundred bucks added to my check for commission for just talking to people!! Gotta love it! snow…..Snow…..SNOW!! : snow…..Snow…..SNOW!! “Christmas,Christmas time is here. Time for joy and time for cheer…” No one says it better than chipmunks. Between the millions of Vocal Edition performances, the Choir concerts, and the unexpected winter weather delays we all found the legit joy of the season. The other snowflakes and I all learned the song “Snow” which we are convinced is the reason for all the snow this year. Maybe we should get together once a year and sing it to bring the joy of the season to everyone…. ITS CHRISTMASSSSS!!!! : ITS CHRISTMASSSSS!!!! The holiday season is my favorite time of year. My family all gets together and we eat HUGE meals almost every weekend! Combine that with the amazing holiday music and you’ve got a concoction that leaves a smile on my face all day everyday! I got everything I wanted for Christmas, and the things I didn’t get, I bought!! He called me……FATS!!! : He called me……FATS!!! Bye Bye Birdie had officially taken over the school, spreading its upbeat and hilarious music to every fine arts organization in the school. The cast list was posted and I was awarded the part of Harry MacAfee. Paul Lynd was my inspiration and I immediately dived in and the show was underway. Even though we had many falters, from set breakage to Improv on stage, the show was an amazing success and such a musical experience. All- State and the hell of it. : All- State and the hell of it. We started at the beginning of the year with the hellish process of auditioning for the all- state choir. The time and energy poured into this process was unimaginable and I was rewarded with my final seat as alternate tenor two to the all-state choir. During the months of prep and auditions I hated it with every fiber of my being. But now that its gone I miss it so much and all of the difficult music that goes with it. Shattered dreams! : Shattered dreams! In the beginning of the 2nd semester I was invited to participate in a life changing event called Shattered Dreams. The program was created to show senior and juniors the dangers of drinking and driving, on top of the effect it has on everyone close to those involved. We recreated an accident, walked around dead, and stayed the night away from our families all in order to show our peers all the dangers. This event changed many lives, including mine. The Returners, aka The Snowflakes, aka the 3 best friends that anyone could have!! : The Returners, aka The Snowflakes, aka the 3 best friends that anyone could have!! I started off the year in the company of 3 friends who we’re peers in choir and we all had one thing in common. We were all returning members of Vocal edition and, more importantly, we were all leaders in the choir department. Breanna Hembree, Barbra Caceres and Zane Harrington are the people to whom I own my sanity. They quickly became the most amazing friends I’ve ever had….thanks you guys! RADIUM…..girls. : RADIUM…..girls. Radium Girls, the play that killed my life! One- Act play contest is the UIL opportunity to show off schools theatre programs. We entered the competition with the mind set that it would be over in first round. SURPRISE! We advanced round….after round….after round. Each time, more of my life being shaved off. But I got to work with some of the most talented people I know and make history in Birdville High School theatre. San Angelo : San Angelo One- Act play just kept advancing and so the cast took the weekend long trip to San Angelo to perform for the region level seat. We swam in the totally not hot hot tub till almost 11 at night and froze our butts off. And pigged out at both Chili’s and Applebee’s. Although we didn’t advance, we all became closer and found support in each other! Laissez le Bon temp rouler!! : Laissez le Bon temp rouler!! This year, the choir took a trip to N’awlins. I got to spend countless hours with some of my favorite people and make countless memories that I will cherish forever. We walked the French Quarter, ate beignets in a minute flat, danced on a really old boat, and took sweepstakes at a 3 choir competition. Not to mention we picked up a car so that we could leave the parking lot!! HAHAHAHA We’re a special kind of people known as…SHOW PEOPLE!!! : We’re a special kind of people known as…SHOW PEOPLE!!! The year was…well this year. The place was…well this place. And the Birdville Show Choir, known as Vocal Edition, was performing the show that had been talked about all year. After being moved twice and practiced over and over and over again, it was finally here! We donned our outfits and plastered on our smiles and when those lights hit us on that stage, the crowd went wild. We all sang our hearts out and combined that with our soul to make this the most special performance I’ve ever been in. A leisurely walk (usually in some public place) : A leisurely walk (usually in some public place) Prom. What more is there to say. It was my senior prom and I wouldn’t change it for the world. It was at the Omni in Fort Worth and boy was it beautiful! We danced, my best friend in the entire world won prom queen, I danced with a gay guy, and ate some of the best mashed potatoes in the world. Even though I got made fun of for wearing make-up, I had the time of my life and kick ass pictures to show it. C-E-L-E-B-R-A-T-E : C-E-L-E-B-R-A-T-E Even though I was exhausted, frustrated ( I had just locked my keys in my truck for the first time) and hungry as all getup, I decided to go to Project celebration and I had SOO MUCHHH FUUNNNN. I ate and played games and ate and kicked butt at poker and ate and…you get the picture. When it finally ended at SIX IN THE MORNING! I went home and crashed hardcore and woke up the next day and went to church! Am I stupid or something! : Am I stupid or something! As I do every year, I volunteered to help run the Hurricane Harbor Contest which is a middle school UIL- like contest that hundreds of schools compete in. I ran sound for a grand total of nearly 30 hours, made a trip out to Hurricane Harbor in order to help distribute trophies to the winning schools, and woke up at 6:30 in the morning on a Saturday…not fun. Bye Bye…..Buckley’s? : Bye Bye…..Buckley’s? Because or musical, Bye Bye Birdie, was so FREAKING OUTSTANDING we were nominated for many awards by the Betty Lynn Buckley foundation including; Best musical, best orchestra, best set and lights, and I personally was nominated for best supporting actor. Now its time to say goodbye to all our company… : Now its time to say goodbye to all our company… Our last Singing Hawks performance, our spring concert was an emotional rollercoaster. From apprehension due to the fact that we didn’t know our music before hand, to the calming realization that that was it for my part in Birdville Choir, needless to say that I was emotionally and physically exhausted. But even though my voice was gone and my eyes were heavy. The choir performed as it always does, culminating to the finale of “The Lord Bless You and Keep You” that had the audience on their feet in seconds. Gather together for DRAMA!!! : Gather together for DRAMA!!! The theatre banquet was such a fun time. It was held in the fact, as normal, but the directions were anything but. We had a city skyline, a swarm of paparazzi, and an old school theatre marquee that was lit up with what seemed like a thousand lights. We talked and danced and received awards that were both funny and meaningful. Top that off with the free money I got and that was enough to put a smile on my face! Gather together for CHOIR!!! : Gather together for CHOIR!!! A week after the theatre banquet, was CHOIR banquet! But this time, I was in charge. Being an officer, I was forced to see the backgrounds of banquet planning. But everything went smoothly and it was a beautiful and fun night.
