Spinning is the process of binding fibres to form yarn through different mechanisms. Ring spinning Rotor spinning Friction spinning Air-Jet spinningSlide 3: Ring spinning & need for compact spinning In ring spinning basic mechanism is drafting, twisting and winding. The twisting is done after drafting of the material. The edge fibres which are not contributing to yarn strength will lead to hairiness. By reducing the width of the drafted material hairiness can reduced. This basic idea is adopted in compact spinning.Slide 4: INTRODUCTION TO COMPACT SPINNING Compact technology is the new spinning advancement revolutionary version of ring spinning process, which achieves a remarkable improvement in yarn quality & yarn structure through better utilization of fibre properties.Slide 5: MECHANISM : Condensing of feed material through – Mechanical condenser Roving twist Aerodynamic condensationSlide 6: TYPES OF COMPACT SPINNING MECHANISM Suessen : Elite spinning Zinser : Air ComTex Rieter : Comfor spinningSlide 7: Features Tension between top rollers causes straightening of fibres Variable profile tubes for diff. counts Centrally regulated fans, each for two profile tubes Suessen : Elite spinningSlide 8: Features Suction systerm whose freq. can be adjusted & monitored Special feature has been added to separate dust, husk & softening agent from the material Low maintenance due to self cleaning Zinser : Air Com Tex :Slide 9: Rieter : Comfor spinning Feature Bottom delivery roller is replaced by perforated drum Introduction of non rotating suction slot inside perforated drumSlide 10: Factors Affecting Quality of Yarn : Lappet/ Balloon controller Ring & ring traveller Bobbin Departmental conditions Passage in down stream processesSlide 11: 1.Lappet/ Balloon controller Surface characteristics Hardness of materialSlide 12: 2. Ring and Traveller system : Minimum. micro welding In ring Deeper yarn passage Round cross sectionSlide 13: cntd. : 3. Bobbin Good surface finish Smoother edges Polycarbonate bobbins 4. Departmental conditions Good air circulation Good cleaning conditions Maintain proper RH. 5.passage through down stream processSlide 14: Characteristics : Yarn characteristics Hairiness decreases Elongation increases Strength increases Lower tpi gives higher production End breakage rate reduces by 50% Higher bending rigidity Fabric characteristics High tearing strength Low air permeability More abrasion resistance Higher KBS valueSlide 15: ComparisonSlide 16: Advantages Winding Imperfections due to winding are minimized Singeing Rewinding process can be eliminated Lusture increases Dyeing Higher KBS value Less absorption of dye with same lustureSlide 17: cntd. : Knitting Reduction in fly and fluff Few breakages Clearer loop structure Sizing Low concentrated size is required Desizing cost can be reduced Weaving Good lusture Distinct contours are obtainedSlide 18: Disadvantages : Different type of aprons for diff. counts Higher manufacturing cost Difficulty while running man made fibres Higher installation cost High maintenance required Skilled labors required Dye may fade out earlierSlide 19: CONCLUSION : Compact spinning is an advance concept which enhance the yarn properties. But if certain post spinning aspects are not considered this technology does not prove worthy. So care should be taken in yarn passage and further handling also. This technology is not widely accepted on commercial basis due to certain disadvantages. So efforts should be made for successful use of this technology.Slide 20: THANK YOU You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
