My course projecT:

My course projecT Autumn Taylor autumnt504@Hotmail.com 12/7/14 Fitness Lifestyle Design

Introduction:

Introduction For this project I participated in regular exercise, occasional yoga classes and running on a regular basis. I run to get my mind off of things and to achieve my goals a lot quicker. Goals: maintain self-control with what I eat and be able to do 50 pushups. I did yoga classes at the YMCA just as rehabilitation for my strength days, however, I wanted to see if I could achieve a strength-based accomplishment by myself

Engagement Activities:

Engagement Activities This is something that I personally wanted to achieve. I noticed that one thing that has always held me back from progressing upon a healthy lifestyle is my eating habits. Nevertheless, I always wanted to have insane upper body strength. Many of the activities I did, I did by myself. I don’t have a car and my parents have very busy schedules but I decided that I wouldn’t let that occlude me from pursuing my dreams. I divided up my time into 3 days a week, at least an hour of exercise. I pencil in m schedules a lot and I work them around my work, school, and extracurricular schedules.

Sportsmanship:

Sportsmanship Sportsmanship is overall good ethics when competing in athletics. A time where I experienced good sportsmanship during my course project, was when I refused to give up on myself. There were many times where I believed that I could’ve given up on myself just because of lack of progress. I reminded myself even when I didn’t have “enough” time in the day or when I believed that I couldn’t reach my goals that if somebody else can do it then I can as well. Some people have more on their plate than me, I can’t use time as an explanation for why I didn’t do something. I also wanted to prove to myself that I can become healthy and develop healthy eating habits.

Sports in other Cultures:

Sports in other Cultures I did my sports project on sports in Canada and the United States in general, however, I believe it’s important to point out that ice hockey is one sport of the many sports that Canada and the United States favor. As a result of our geographical conditions Canada and the United States share many of the same popular sports. Of course, Ice hockey is more popular in Canada than the United States Sports in the United States impacts the culture at a greater quota than does sports in Canada. Sports are very influential in all cultures and societies, however, they play an especially important part in the United States. The activity that I used to achieve my goal was running which is very common in all cultures, especially in the world of track and field. It’s a very popular sport in the Southern United States.

In-School Resources:

In-School Resources My activity would more so be located in the category of track and field and/or weight lifting, both of which are offered at my school. I would definitely participate in weightlifting at my school, however, I believe that I would lose interest in track and field very quickly.

Community Resource:

Community Resource My activity is very common in the sense that you can find many of these things in the form of 5k runs, 10k runs, etc. These are usually associated with charities and it costs money to get in, nevertheless, it’s for a good cause I do want to participate in more classes at the YMCA, such as spinning and maybe I’ll try Pilates one day. I would participate in more activities if there were more free activities. http://www.groupon.com/local/port-orange-fl/things-to-do

Proof of Participation:

Proof of Participation I did most of my course project by myself. There is no class schedule, roster, etc.

Final Thoughts & Reflections:

Final Thoughts & Reflections I feel like fitness isn’t only good for your health, it embraces your self confidence and convinces you that anything is possible. I’m very excited for my college experience, not only to pursue a new life of independence but for the wide variety of things I can do that is not offered in Port Orange. FSU has kickboxing, yoga and many other fitness clubs I would love to join. I learned a lot about my perseverance. When I first chose this project, I was a little scared because I believed I would’ve given up. One fundamental thing I learned is not to push yourself too much, if you find yourself at a place where you feel extremely uncomfortable, you need to go home and take a rest. I believe running or a brisk walk is suitable for most people of almost any age. Any other activity even if it is lightweight helps a lot. You should do the most you can to stay healthy.
