They unfold a wide range of preset color palettes, fonts, backgrounds, and formatting effects. With this feature, you can not only customize the themes but also build your own themes out of it.

Design themes are a new addition to PowerPoint 2007. They work in a similar way as the design templates in the pervious versions of PowerPoint.

Click on the ‘Design’ tab to access the Design ribbon.:

The ‘Design Themes’ are displayed by default. Click on the ‘Design’ tab to access the Design ribbon.

Move your mouse over any theme which you may find it appropriate to your subject. The design appears immediately on your slide. Click on the design theme which you find that befits your needs and it the selected design appears on all your slides.:

Click on the ‘dropdown’ button to access more themes.

You will find the ‘Built-In’ Themes which are provided by Microsoft The ‘Custom’ themes which you have created by yourself also appear here. Click on ‘More Themes on Microsoft Office Online’ you can find more on the website of Microsoft. With ‘Browse for Themes’ option, you can search for more of the designs from your system.

‘Save Current Theme’ option enables you to save the theme you have created currently with the help of SmartArt graphics templates, images, etc.

Theme Colors:

Theme Colors Once you have selected the design theme, click on ‘Colors’ option in the Themes group to make the most dramatic change to your presentation. With one click, change the tone of a presentation from casual to formal, or vice versa, by changing the colors of the theme.

Click on ‘Create New Theme Colors’ option to select your own shades for the themes. ‘Create New Theme Colors’ window pops up from where you can customize the shades of your choice.

Theme fonts You can change the font types by clicking on ‘Fonts’ button in the Themes group.

On clicking ‘Font’ button, you will access ‘Built-In’ fonts which are present by default. You can create more fonts by clicking on ‘Create New Theme Fonts’ and a pop-up window opens for the purpose.

Theme effects By using the Theme Effects gallery, you can replace different sets of effects to change the appearance of the objects on the slide. Select the effects that are appropriate for the subject of your presentation.

Background Styles:

Background Styles You can change the colors of the slide’s background by clicking on ‘Background Styles’ option. Opt for formatting the background by yourself by clicking on ‘Format Background’.

Hide Background Graphics:

Hide Background Graphics You can also hide the graphics of the slide’s background by checking on the checkbox ‘Hide Background Graphics’.
