Use of embedded and linked audio files in PowerPoint:

Use of embedded and linked audio files in PowerPoint

What are embedded files?:

What are embedded files? Embedded files are stored within the presentation. These links do not change even if you change their source file. Hence, such media links get embedded into the presentation and would run on any computer.

What are linked files? :

What are linked files? The linked files are included in the PowerPoint presentations. However, they would work only if you are presenting them on the same system where you have created the presentation. If you want to display the linked media on any other system, then it needs to be ported along with the slideshow and kept on the same path as on the parent computer.

Which file format is the best for uploading embedded and linked media each? The .WAV (waveform audio data) is the most preferred one for uploading embedded media. Hence, the sound file should be under 100 KB (kilobytes). All other file formats, including .wav files greater than 100 KB, are linked into your presentations.

What should you do to display the presentation on a computer other than the one on which you have created PowerPoint?:

What should you do to display the presentation on a computer other than the one on which you have created PowerPoint? If you are planning to show your presentation on another computer, ensure that the source file that contains your linked sound files, as well as the folder its in, are saved on the computer you're using to present. Otherwise, the sound files won't play because the presentation won't know where to link to and the source files will be on a different computer.
