About Bowie State Bowie State is the oldest Historically Black College/University in Maryland and one of the ten oldest in the country. It is also a diverse university whose 5,400 students, along with faculty and staff, come from many ethnic backgrounds. Program Focus:

The Human Resource Development program is designed to prepare practitioners with the ability to function in a variety of contexts, including: private industry, government agencies, non-profit organizations, corporations, educational institutions, military, healthcare organizations, and professional and voluntary organizations. Program Focus


Emphasis Emphasis is placed on training and curriculum design, leadership development, management, strategic planning, adult education, and technology. Areas covered include design, delivery, implementation, evaluation, and assessment of programs aimed at meeting the needs of employees and organizations.

Flexible and Convenient Classes:

Flexible and Convenient Classes The program offers classes during the evening to accommodate working adults and may be pursued on a full-time or part-time basis. Both traditional and online courses are available. Courses are scheduled weekly with two eight-week sessions per semester.

Entrance Requirements:

Entrance Requirements Applicants must: hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution have a grade point average of 2.5 or better (on a 4.0 scale). have strong writing and communication skills.

Degree Requirements:

Degree Requirements Completion of a total of 39 credit hours A written qualifying/comprehensive examination A written research paper
