THE COMET

PowerPoint Presentation:

Comet are huge dusty snowballs left over from when the g iant planets from. Their Paths Take them in all directions as they orbit around the Sun.

PowerPoint Presentation:

There are trillions of comets they make a vast sphere , called the oort cloud, which surrounds the planet any part of solar system. Some comets have left the oort cloud and how orbit in the inner solar system returning again and again to the to the earth sky.

TELESCOPES

PowerPoint Presentation:

A comet is like a big dirty snowball made out of water , dust and many different gases. A comet can travel up to 100,000 m.p.h. You can see an asteroid without a telescope every three years. Comets

PowerPoint Presentation:

The three parts of a comet are the nucleus, the coma, and the ion tail. The tail of the comet always points away from the sun this is because of the strong solar winds. Parts of a Comet

PowerPoint Presentation:

Halley’s Comet This comet is called Halley’s comet because it was discovered by Sir Edmund Halley. You can see Halley’s comet every 76 years. The tail of Halley’s comet is 93 million miles long.

PowerPoint Presentation:

How does the comet made up of ? Comet nuclei are loose collections of ice, dust and small rocky particles, ranging from a few kilometers to tens of kilometers across. As a comet approaches the inner solar system, solar radiation causes the volatile materials within the comet to vaporize and stream out of the nucleus, carrying dust away with them. The streams of dust and gas form a huge, extremely tenuous atmosphere around the comet called the coma, and the force exerted on the coma by the radiation pressure of the Sun and solar wind cause a tail to form. The tail always points away from the sun.

Types of comet Here are two types of comets. They are short period comets and long period comets. Short period comets complete their orbit in 200 years or less. Long period comets take more than 200 years to complete their orbit.
