PowerPoint Presentation:

Learning to play keyboard and piano is great fun and you get so much out of playing music. It really does make you feel good and gives you a lift every time you sit down to play, even if it is just for half an hour or so. Most musicians learn to play by memory in some form or another. I think if you are blessed to have a natural ear for music then you are very lucky because learning new songs will always be easier for a pianist who can play by ear rather than reading musical score, as you will be able to listen to a song and play from memory without relying on a music score. Having musical score is usually just a back up and something to refer too if need be. I believe that any keyboard player can play by ear if they really want to learn. Lots of people may learn a song from sheet music and then because they know it so well they will naturally play bits of it from memory and then through repetition you will eventually be able to play most of a song from memory. Other musicians may choose to work out a song by ear and then refer to sheet music as a guide and add parts in that they were unsure of which they can find out from reading musical score or even watching a video tutorial. Most beginners will find it easier to play from sheet music and then play it by ear, where as some more advanced keyboard players will opt to learn it all by ear and then use sheet music if they are struggling to work out one chord or a section for example. I think if you play by ear as well as reading music it can give you more freedom in your playing making you less wooden in a performance as you can put more into a song if it's not restricted by a certain style that your sheet music is telling you to do. If you are learning a song from musical score and it has a simple bass line, but you've listen to the original song and you would prefer to put more into this then you can do so. Try not to let sheet music hold you back from playing a song how you want to play it because a little bit of your own improvisation can make an original song become your own piece of music. It can take many years of practice to reach the standard to be able play your own one hour song repertoire on piano or keyboard. But what if there was a simple method that could show any beginner how to do it in just 12 days? Find out how it’s done... http://www.asapiano.com/ Discover Why Learning Piano Songs By Ear Gives You More Freedom In Your Keyboard Playing Style
