It measures how hot or cold an object is. It is one of the most important element of weather. It is measured by an instrument called THERMOMETER. TEMPERATURE UNITS : Prepared by - ARVIND TIRKEY 4 TEMPERATURE UNITS Named after the Swedish scientist Anders Celsius. Freezing point of water is 0° C. Boiling point of water is 100° C, dividing the scale into 100 equal degrees. The Kelvin scale was named after the British scientist Lord Kelvin. The Kelvin scale is set at absolute zero, or the Temperature. The Kelvin scale sets the melting point of ice at 273 K, and the boiling point of water at 373K. It is kept in the mouth for about two minutes. A healthy man has a normal temperature of 370C (or 98.60F). THERMOGRAPH The weather and meteorological stations use THERMOGRAPH to record temperature continuously. PRECAUTIONS FOR USING THERMOMETER : Prepared by - ARVIND TIRKEY 10 PRECAUTIONS FOR USING THERMOMETER Thermometer should be kept in shade. It should not be exposed to the direct sun rays. If it is kept in the sun rays then it gives the temperature of the sun rays and not of the air. It should be kept at least 10 meters high above the ground.
