IU History : 

IU History Designed to: provide regional services to school districts function as liaison between school districts and Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Established by the Pennsylvania State Legislature in 1970

IU5 Mission Statement : 

IU5 Mission Statement IU5 will support school districts by creating and implementing quality services while meeting the current, emerging, and future needs of their students.

IU5 Vision Statements : 

IU5 Vision Statements Maintain a supportive and collaborative work environment in which staff are: Treated fairly, equitably, with respect, and with high professional expectations Eager to come to work and to excel The first choice in northwestern PA for educational solutions and services

IU5 Vision Statements With input from school board directors and school staff, the IU provides state-mandated services in a manner that best meets school district needs. The IU continually improves and refines its goals, plans, programs, and services through regular monitoring and data analysis.

IU5 Vision Statements Information on IU services and actions is communicated frequently, openly, and consistently to the relevant stakeholders. Resources of the IU are managed responsibly, efficiently, and effectively. All educators will utilize state-of-the-art technology, resources, and materials.

Shared Values : 

Shared Values Change is inevitable, improvement imperative, and survival optional. Our school districts’ needs and PDE directives shape our IU and its work, not vice versa. Diversity must be recognized and valued. Learning is a partnership among schools, family, and community.

Shared Values All students can learn and achieve success to their potential. Open, honest, and authentic communication is paramount. Learning is a life-long process. Personal wellness and fitness are essential life habits. Responsibilities and contributions of each individual should be acknowledged.
