Electricity Demand Forecasting: Electricity through Demand Response Programs Electricity is a necessary part of life. Modern life cannot be imagined without electricity. From giant industrial machines to tiny household appliances all require electricity to perform the functions they were meant to. Electricity demand forecasting refers to the analysis of electricity requirements and power demands of the society which is then analysed for the functioning of power stations and constructions of new stations according to the gathered data. Demand response programs provide an opportunity to the general public to shift or reduce their electricity uses depending upon peak intensive hours and specific requirements. Here are the few ways in which forecasting makes an impact. 1-Saves excessive electricity produced: By including sophisticated algorithms and surveys the energy department can use a day ahead forecasting techniques to redistribute the energy which is produced in excess. This will help the department in the long run as they don’t have to waste any energy produced. Electricity demand forecasting takes into account a load of each household therefore more survey data will help in the efficient production of electricity for each household and not any more or less. On the research conducted to date it is evident that supply and demand aren’t consistent. This is the primary focus forecasting in general. Consistency in demand will bring uniformity in production and in the long run will help in saving gigawatts of energy. Energy demand forecast will benefit the overall landscape of power production. Clean and renewable energy stations will be set up for societies which do not operate on heaving loads hydropower stations can reduce their water consumption and wind energy harvesting will be efficiently done in the future. The potential of forecasting techniques has opened many aspects in which mankind can supply their energy demands and also help the planet by minimising emissions from AC systems and not overflowing dams. Demand response programs in the future will aim to survey the impact of the previous forecasting data and the benefits it has brought to society.
