Why I choose this book ?:

Why I choose this book ? I love reading the Viking story . So I want to learn more about the Viking people , not only myths. I’ve read some books which wrote by Fiona Macdonald. When I saw this book , I am excited . It ‘s easy to read so I choose this book.

Who Were Vikings ?:

Who Were Vikings ?   Germanic Norse seafarers, speaking the Old Norse language Lived in SCANDINAVIA 1000+ years ago Ridded & Traded from their homelands across northern and central EUROPE During late 8 th to 11 th centuries

Different Classes in Viking Society:

Different Classes in Viking Society Viking society had THREE classes

Warriors :

Warriors Vikings valued glory more than long life They believed a dead warriors fame lived on after him Made sure that his name would never die

Viking Ship :

Viking Ship Vikings sailed in DRAGON SHIPS Designed for war Long, slender, speedy With beautifully carved stern and prow

Viking Women:

Viking Women Independent Cooked, raised children, manage farms and workshops While their husbands were away Dependent? No Position?

Clothes:

Clothes Vikings wore a lot of layers to keep out of cold Liked bright colors and patterns Often decorated with strips of woven braid

Quarrels:

Quarrels Quarrels settled by fighting If 1 family member was killed or insulted , all others had a duty to arrange him Unless each family were prepared to seek peace and pay compensation

Law Laws were not written down Memorized by a man known as the law-speaker. Recited them out every year Everyone could hear and understand them

Entertainment:

Entertainment Like music, dancing, and clowns At feasts, Vikings sang songs and dance Depending on how much the guests had drunk The dancing might be slow or riotous

Death and burial Early Vikings burn their their dead. Bodies of dead people were burned on big wood fires Ashes were collected & buried in pottery urns AD800 to 900 some Vikings began to bury unburned dead bodies in the ground

RUNES Vikings scribes wrote in ‘RUNES’ There were originally only 16 letters in Viking alphabet (字母) Written in straight lines only Made them easier carve in wood and stone.

The thing I've learned:

The thing I've learned The history and culture of Vikings Their Living habit was interesting I appreciate them very well They are self-sufficient ,never rely on any one. The book is easy to read but full of knowledge I really love this book
