An estimate four out of five people in Montana have already tasted their first alcoholic drink even before they reached the age of eighteen years.Slide 2: Vices such as binging are becoming very popular in the state of Montana too. A lot of young people are into such problems today and this is only reflected in the large number of alcohol abuse treatment centers in the state.Slide 3: However, the treatment centers have been facing a large number of peripheral problems that are definitely making the treatment of the abuse much more complicated than it really should be.Slide 4: Ignorance about the Addiction Most teenagers who are into alcohol abuse in Montana use the substance only because of the high that they experience from it. These people are not much aware of the havoc that the substance can cause in their lives in the later years.Slide 5: They do not know how their alcoholism can put a dent on their personal and social lives and even jeopardize their professional lives later on. These issues can make their lives much more of a problem than in adults.Slide 6: The ignorance also brings in the problem of denial. People who are quite young and do not know the repercussions that alcoholism can cause will be quite reckless about their habits.Slide 7: As a result, they will not accept that alcohol abuse is a problem and they will not get into treatment for that matter. This can make the problem bigger. In fact the main reason why most people are into some form of treatment for their alcohol abuse in Montana is because they are still ignorant about their condition and do not want to accept any mode of treatment.Slide 8: The treatment centers need to spend more resources than usual when they are dealing with youth alcohol abuse in Montana because they need to create in the youth the need for treatment. This in itself becomes a sizable part of the overall addiction treatment program in Montana.Slide 9: Long Term Addiction One more very important point is that people who get into an alcohol habit when they are young will have a much greater propensity to become long term addicts than people who start with the habit when they get older. There have been studies proving the propensity of addiction based on age.Slide 10: These results have shown that if someone starts with an alcohol habit before reaching the age of 18 years of age will have at least four times more chances of becoming an addict than if were to start after they reached 25 years of age. Also, starting out at an age when the body is still developing will make the alcohol become more permanent in the body. The central nervous system will accept the substance when the person's constitution is still developing. This is what makes the person's addiction more serious.Slide 11: Seeking out educational, reliable information is a good first step. Gaining a better understanding of addiction and the symptoms it brings can help parents and other family members communicate more effectively and convey their love, concern and support. The first step is to get professional help; help that can offer trustworthy, unswerving guidance and therapy, both to teens and their families. There are many options available for families who have a teen that is involved with substance and or alcohol abuse. Residential facility care is one such option which involves edification, medical care and localized treatment methods. Most programs are founded on the twelve step model, and group meetings are a central component of treatment. Many residential programs are substantially controlled in order to give residents the best possible opportunity for success and triumph over their specific addiction.Slide 12: Infiltrating free time with structured events, activities, therapy sessions and group meetings allows little opportunity for addictive stumbling blocks. Teens can receive encouraging support and will have time to express themselves freely to trained, licensed professionals. In many cases, these sessions open doors of communication between youths and their family members bridging the painful gap that addiction can cause in meaningful, loving relationships. Outpatient programs can offer success to those whose schedules and addiction may not require in-house rehabilitation, or who have already completed a more stringent residential program. Outpatient treatment offers a variety of key tools that can help families and those suffering from addiction find confidence, hope and autonomy through sober living.Slide 13: Outpatient services can include drug and alcohol assessments, both group and individual therapy sessions, and specialized counseling for family members. Enlightening and instructive courses on drug and alcohol addiction and methods are used to combat and treat addictions, including drug screening, and medical treatments, if necessary. The ability to combat and find freedom against addiction and enjoy the wonder and beauty of a sober life is within reach for anyone who desires to make a change. Family members and their teens are not alone and there are facilities, professionals and treatment options that can and will bring additional support and encouragement and create a foundation of healing, not only for the addict, but to the relationships that have been damaged by the dependence. Liberty from addiction is one phone call away and the choice to restore sobriety and renew life is available to everyone. The choice and the opportunity are yours! Success awaits you!
