Those who like fashions would go for tattooing their body. Even there has been a lot of Guinness world record holder for tattooing almost all parts of their body. Tattooing can be either permanent or temporary. Temporary tattoos won’t lasts. Their validity could be some 2-3 months. Permanent tattoos are fixed using machines in our body. They last for ages. But although they are considered permanent, there are some ways you could remove from their body. Either editing (partially remove) or completely removing is possible. The best possible method that we have today is laser treatments. When laser is directed directly to the tattoo, it reacts with the ink and it breaks down which are then absorbed by the body and they disappear almost completely. The basic principle behind this is that every tattoo pigments have specific light absorption spectra. The laser light belonging to this spectra are subjected to the tattoo. Q-switched lasers are widely used now.Slide 2: There are various Q-switched laser equipments like Q-switched Ruby, Q-switched Alexandrite etc. They actually defer according the laser used (in nanometers). Actually the tattoos may be subjected to laser treatment sessions not only once may be more. They are determined by the factors like size, color, type of ink used and the whether the tattoo is new or old. Some tattoos require between 15 to 20 treatments before they are completely removed. One such example is the Turquoise tattoos because there isn’t a laser that targets the color effectively.Slide 3: There are a number of clinics specially designed for tattoo removing all over the world. There are other tattoo removal treatments available other than laser treatment. Some of them are IPL (Intense Pulse Light) which emits pulses of light directly onto the tattoo. They are considered efficient less pain laser treatment. Other methods are surgical excision and Dermabrasion where the tattoo is cut off and the skin is sewn back together. They are not generally preferred by people because it leaves a scar back. There are various creams and lotions designed to make the tattoo to become less visible. They are home treatments where the consumer uses it according to his/her needs. Although the above methods are used, laser treatments are preferred widely for tattoo removal even though they are more painful than tattooing because it never leaves any scars or scraps.Slide 4: The average laser tattoo removal cost ranges from 200 USD to 500 USD per treatment session. The price is not a fixed one and can be varied according to the factors like size, color etc. So the average cost may be between 1000 USD to 10,000 USD. So think twice before going for a tattooing because removing is more expensive and painful than fixing it and try not to go for a full body tattooing. Always consult a skin specialist or a cosmetic dermatologist before removing the tattoo.Slide 5: Part of the attraction of getting a tattoo for some people has been the permanence of the body art that one chooses to place on their skin. If one tattoos a name on their body, it means that that name has permanent meaning for them. Likewise, the designs they choose would be something they would never want to change. New tattoo ink technologies are threatening to change the whole concept of permanency of tattooing. Although there currently exist many methods of tattoo removal, their difficulty and cost make tattoos effectively permanent for most people. Likewise, older methods of removal, such as surgery may be painful and leave significant scarring. Laser tattoo removal, while usually effective, often requires multiple treatments and can be costly.Slide 6: One company, Freedom-2, is bringing products to market that will change the paradigm of tattooing. Their ink is based on encapsulating bio-absorbable dyes in polymethylmethacrylate microspheres. The dyes in the ink are already FDA-approved for use in food, cosmetics, and medical devices. The ink is injected into the skin by standard tattooing techniques. At any time when removal of the pigment is desired, a single laser treatment disrupts the encapsulation, allowing the ink to flow out into the tissues and be absorbed. The tattoo then quickly fades without the need for further laser treatments. This ink is not yet available for general use, but has been tested in human subjects, according to the company’s website. They indicate that it will be commercially available in early 2007.Slide 7: They are also developing tattoo inks that will fade away on a predetermined schedule without the need for any laser treatments at all. The technology behind this is not elucidated, and there is no date of availability listed yet for this type of product. The main difference between these two products is that the former is a permanent ink that can be removed anytime, while the latter will last a long time but then fade away, even if the owner prefers it to stay.Slide 8: Tattoo artists may not instantly take to the new inks. The ability to remove a tattoo is not necessarily the foremost consideration when choosing tattoo inks. Some artists believe that tattoos should be permanent, or one is better off not getting a tattoo if he or she is unsure about them. However, some tattoo shops may choose to cater to the less-decisive. Also, it may encourage more experimentation and fanciful designs, if the recipient knows that they can get the tattoo quickly lasered off if they don’t like it. The new ink will likely be significantly more expensive that standard ink, so cost will also be a consideration for artists. Although a tattoo’s ink may be temporary, there is often scarring left behind from the tattoo needle’s penetration of the skin. Thus a textural image of the tattoo may remain permanently. Even so, the concept of tattoos as purely permanent body art may be replaced by tattoos as fashion. If a tattoo could be instantly removed, some people may choose to periodically change their tattoos as they would their style of clothing.Slide 9: No creams work. It has been proven many times. I am surprised they are even allowed on the market with all their false claims. You can find laser tattoo removal places all over the place. Be sure they have the right laser for the job..if colored you may need different lasers. Expect hundreds of dollars over a year’s worth of removals…don’t go more than every two months or you will pay even more. They might try to talk you into closer appointments but the longer you wait, the more successful the outcome.Slide 10: There’s still a bluish tinge where the tattoo was (although it has faded considerably). There’s no scaring where the laser has been on her skin but it has removed all the pigment from her skin (she’s caucasian but quite dark skinned). We’re going on holiday next week and really hope that she will be able to tan this area- otherwise the whole process will have been pointless in that she’ll have a white tattoo instead of a blue one!
