NARRATIVE Purpose : to entertain or to amuse readers; to teach moral value to readers Types : fairy tales, mysteries, myths, legends, sci-fi, fables, etc. Features : mostly past tense, descriptive language

STRUCTURE : 

STRUCTURE Orientation : who, where, when Complication : problem arising Resolution : problem solving Reorientation : closing Coda : character changing, or moral value given Note : Reorientation and Coda are optional. Not all narrative writings have them

Read the story carefully. Then, identify the structure of the story. ORIENTATION In this paragraph the character (Cinderella), the time (Long time ago) are introduced. COMPLICATION A problem is arising when Cinderella was not allowed to come to the party. RESOLUTION The help from the Fairy Mother solved the problem. Long time ago there lived a beautiful girl named Cinderella. Because her parents passed away, she lived with her mother and step sisters. Cinderella was very sad everyday she had to do the housework alone. One day, the king wanted to find a wife for his son. He invited all the beautiful girls to come. Cinderella was very sad because her step sisters did not let her go. Her sisters went to the palace without Cinderella. Luckily the fairy mother came and helped Cinderella to go to the palace. In the palace Cinderella danced with the prince. He fell in love with her, and then he married her. They lived happily ever after.
