Sumanta Bandopadhyay KOSHISH… The Flood Situation in Orissa : The Flood Situation in Orissa Devastating floods hit Orissa on 18th September 2008 Mahanadi and its tributaries overflowed causing havoc No of districts affected: 19 Reported human deaths: 75 No of villages affected: 6382 No of villagers affected: 1,70,000 No of cattle affected: 16,47,949 Source: http://orissafloods.wordpress.com/ The Action Plan of Team Koshish : The Action Plan of Team Koshish The devastation caused by the floods was huge. The need of the hour was to provide immediate relief to the people. Our team thought that we needed to devise an action plan to provide help to the affected people. Given a chance to work with the Rotary Club (Bhubaneswar Metro), our team set on the journey to provide relief to the affected villages Stage Wise Overview : Stage Wise Overview Stage 1 : Immediate relief measures Stage 2 : Evaluation of the damage and midterm measures Stage 3 : Touching young hearts and bringing a smile on their faces Slide 5: Stage 1 Stage 1 : Immediate Relief Measures.. : Stage 1 : Immediate Relief Measures.. Trip to Moolabasant village one of the most affected villages. Started off at 8 am and reached there by 11 am. Distributed ready to eat cooked food items and Gamuchchas to all the families in the village. Distributed water pouches – one of the basic replenishments needed in an ‘FAA’. We analysed the surroundings to estimate the extent of devastation, drinking water problems, clothing necessities, availability of books and stationery for school children.
