Introduce to Similes In a simile, the words “like” or “as” are used to signal that a comparison is being made between the two things (Tomkins,2008,p.65)
Similes are a way to describe something. Authors use them to make their writing more interesting or entertaining
Ex> Jenny’s lips are as red as cherries.
: Jenny has very red lips.
Anica slept like a log last night.
: Anica slept very deeply.
