The Washington seal is on the flag and has a portrait of George Washington for respect. State Nickname : State Nickname The state nickname is The Evergreen State. Washington got it’s nickname because Washington has the most conifers in the U.S.A. State History : State History First Inhabitants The first inhabitants were the Yakima tribe and the Salish tribe. Exploration The first explorer was George Vancouver and he explored Puget sound for England. The first settlement was Fort Vancouver. It was built in 1844 as a fur trading post. Animal Life Name and describe some of the wild animals. Places to Visit : Places to Visit I would want to visit Mount St. Helens because it is a huge volcano that erupted May 18, A.M. Plus it is still active to this day. Famous People : Famous People Bill Gates works and lives in Washington. He founded Microsoft. Bill is worth 41 billion dollars.
