11/12/2010 North Delta Alternative School Mrs. Pitts Biology I Room 25 Classroom Procedures

Introduction :

Introduction Procedures are routines that are needed in our everyday life to make known expectations for behavior. There are also procedures that will be followed in this classroom. These procedures will be used to provide a positive atmosphere and a safe environment conducive for learning to take place.

Procedures for Entering the Classroom :

Procedures for Entering the Classroom There is a certain way that I would like for you to enter the classroom. You are expected to follow these procedures: Enter the classroom quietly and do not linger around in the hallway. Go immediately to your assigned seat. Write the “Science Starter” assignment from the board onto your handout. Begin your work quietly and independently.

Procedures for Tardiness :

Procedures for Tardiness If you are tardy for class you must: Enter the room quietly and make as less noise as possible. Sign the tardy sheet by the door. If you have a tardy pass place it in the tardy tray. Go quietly to your assigned seat. Take part in the activity that is in progress. If you do not understand the activity raise your hand and wait until you are recognized by the teacher. Wait quietly until I get to your desk; do not disturb others. You are considered tardy for class if you have not entered the classroom when the bell rings.

Procedures for Absentees :

Procedures for Absentees It is your responsibility to ask for your make-up assignments or tests within two days during the time you return to school from being absent. If you are absent from school you must: Get the missing assignments and Science Starter activities from the absentee box before the end of class or during privileged time. To make up a test you must see the teacher at the end of class to make arrangements to take the test. You can only make up a test after you have finished your class work for the day and previous arrangements have been made with the teacher.

Turning in Assignments :

Turning in Assignments Place all complete and incomplete assignments in their assigned trays at the end of each class period. You are to make sure all assignments have your first and last name and date on it.

Getting Your Attention :

Getting Your Attention Sometimes I may need to get the class attention so that I can give directions, explanations, answer individual or group questions, etc., or if it gets to loud in the class. When I need everyone to stop talking and pay attention to me, I will give you a signal by turning the lights on and off. I will say “Class, your attention please.”

Getting Your Attention Cont. :

Getting Your Attention Cont. When I say class your attention please, you must: Raise your head up and give me eye to eye contact. Stop talking or doing class work. Wait for me to respond.

Procedures for Restroom :

Procedures for Restroom If more than 3 students have to go to the restroom, I will take the whole class at the same time. Students may use the restroom individually if: I have finished discussing the assignment for the day.

Procedures for Seatwork :

Procedures for Seatwork You are not allowed to talk when doing your seatwork. You are required to do your own seatwork. The teacher will monitor all seatwork and give individual feedback.

Out-of-Seat Procedures :

Out-of-Seat Procedures You are only allowed to get out of your seat one-at-a-time to: Sharpen your pencils. Get supplies or materials when needed. Keep trash at your desk and discard it at the end of class.

Procedures for Student Group Work :
