Slide 1: 

1 The blue arrows move you through the slides of this presentation 2 Click on the speaker Icon on each slide and the audio for that slide will play 3 When the audio stops you can click on the speaker icon again to repeat the audio or move to the next slide using the blue arrows at point 1 4 Repeat these steps for each slide in succession to work through the presentation

The short way to “Key” word search a single document For example all +500 pages of Kwiksafe-3.0.pdf

Double click on “My computer” on your desktop

Slide 5: 

Double click on the (I:) drive for you server

Slide 6: 

A menu of files appears Double click on projects

Slide 7: 

At least one file will appear Double click on the file for KTT

A menu of files will appear RIGHT single click on this file

1. This drop down menu will appear 2. Single click on “send to” 3. This drop down menu will appear Click on “desktop (create shortcut)” 4. When the “hour glass” cursor disappears close this screen

1. A shortcut will have been placed on your computer’s desktop 2. Double click to open it

A menu of files will appear Double click on PDFed documents to open this file

Hover your cursor over this corner and a double ended arrow will appear. Hold down the left mouse key and slide the mouse towards the top left of the screen till you can see both panes equally

Type a key word for your search in this box then press “enter” When the document opens it will appear like this

1. If there is more than 1 occurrence of the key word in the document these arrows will appear to the right of your typed key word 2. If you hover your cursor over this arrow “find next” will appear Click the arrow and the search will go to the next occurrence and so on with each successive click Find next Find previous

1. Or - If you click this arrow before you type in a key word a drop down menu appears 2. Click on “Open Full Acrobat Search”

This search window will appear to the left of your screen Type the “Key word” in this field and click “search”

The “results:” field will indicate how many distinct key word occurrences there are throughout the current document The search will indicate how many documents you’ve searched The search will indicate what you actually searched for

1. If you hover your cursor over this blue border and hold down the left mouse button you will be able to expand this field by moving the border to the right and read each line in full 2. Once you have found the entry you want, click on it

The search will take you to that point in the document with the key word highlighted

1. Click anywhere in the document, the highlight will disappear and the search will open that page 2. You can scroll up and down as you read on your screen 3. You can print this page as with any other document for hard copy

Click on the “Start” icon in the bottom left hand corner of your desktop

A second menu will appear 1 of the options will be the Adobe Acrobat programme Hover your cursor over it

Hover you cursor over “Adobe Acrobat” Whilst holding your left mouse key down drag it to your desktop Cursor

If you look closely you should notice a faint image of the Adobe Acrobat programme title moving to the desktop as you drag it whilst holding the left mouse button down

You now have a shortcut on your desktop for Adobe Reader

Open Adobe Reader from your desktop

Once you have opened Adobe Reader click on the “Edit” prompt in the task bar

1. A search menu will appear on the left of the previous screen Change the green dot from “In current document” to “All PDF documents” by clicking your cursor arrow in the empty circle to the left of “All PDF documents” 2. This is what you should have now

1. In the same menu window click on this arrow to open the drop down menu 2. In the drop down menu click on “Browse for location”

1. The “Browse For Folder” menu will appear Click on “My computer” 2. The drop down menu for “My computer” will appear 3. Click on the (I:) drive for your server NOTE: The full (I:) drive name will vary according to your location but will always be identifiable from the symbol – (I:) on the end

1. An (I:) drive drop down menu will appear Click on projects 2. A file menu will appear Click on “R2312 - Esso Kipper Turrum”

1. A menu of folders will appear Using the scroll bar – Scroll down till you come to the folder titled “Supervisors’ pack” Click on “Supervisors’ pack” 2. Another menu of folders will appear Click on “PDFed documents” 3. Click on “OK”

This screen will appear on the left of your screen Type a key search word in this field NOTE: If you are looking for all entries associated with anchors; type – Anchor However, if you are looking for all entries associated with anchor handling type – Anchor handling

If you wish to find entries referring to anchors, simply type “anchor” then click on search However, type “anchor handling” if you wish to find entries referring to anchor handling then click search NOTE: If at first the programme doesn’t find what you are looking for try variations e.g. “handling anchors” etc

1. The search will show which documents have entries using the words – “anchor handling” 2. Click the + icon to open individual entries for each document

1. Click on the entry you wish to read….. The search will take you to that page, with the words highlighted in blue

1. Moving this bar left or right with your cursor will expand or contract the page 3. Use these arrows to scroll up or down the pages of the document 2. Use the + or – to expand or contract the page size

You can print the page/s you wish to refer to just like you would any other document
