The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a Twenty20 Cricket Competition initiated by the Board Of Cricket Control In India (BCCI) and was supervised by BCCI vice chairman Mr.Lalith Modi, Chairman and Commissioner of IPL It includes eight teams or franchises . The team includes players from different countries . The players are selected by the teams on auction basis .

FIRST SEASON The tournament started on 18 April 2008 in Bangalore and lasted for 46 days with 59 matches scheduled out of which 58 took place and 1 was washed out due to rain . Four teams were qualified for semi finals on point basis . Teams Qualified for Semi-finals :

Semi finals of IPL Season 1 : First Semi – final : VS First semi – final was held between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Daredevils at Mumbai . Rajasthan royals defeated Delhi Daredevils by 105 runs . Shane Watson of Rajasthan Royals knocked 52 runs in 29 balls and was awarded the Man of the match

Second Semi – final : VS Second semi – final was held between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab . Chennai Super Kings defeated Kings XI Punjab by 9 wickets . Suresh Raina Of CSK Scored 55* in 34 balls . Makhaya Ntini Of CSK was awarded the Man of the Match

Finals : VS Final was held between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings . Chennai Scored 163/5 in 20 overs . Rajasthan successfully chased the target and won the match by 3 wickets . Yusuf Pathan was awarded the man of the match .

Finals : VS Finals held between Deccan Chargers and Royal Challengers . Deccan Chargers scored 143/6 in 20 overs . RCB was unable to chase the target of 143 and scored 137/9 in 20 overs . Deccan Chargers won the match by 6 runs

Semi – finals of IPL Season 3 : First Semi – final : VS The first semi – final was held between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers . Mumbai Indians defeated RCB by35 runs . Kieron Pollard of Mumbai Indians was awarded the Man of the Match .

Second Semi – final : VS The second semi – final was held between Chennai Super Kings and Deccan Chargers . CSK defeated Deccan Chargers by 38 runs . Doug Bollinger Of CSK was awarded the Man of the Match

Third Place Playoff : VS This match was conducted to select the team capable to play the Airtel Cricket League T20 (ACL T20) . RCB defeated Deccan Chargers by 9 Wickets . RCB got qualified for playing ACL T20

Slide 20:

Finals : VS Finals held between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians . CSK won the toss and elected to bat first . CSK scored 168/5 in 20 overs . Mumbai Indians was not able to chase the target and scored 146/9 in 20 overs . CSK won the match by 22 runs
