The study showed that the entrepreneurs are born & can also be made. It is possible to identify the individuals in all communities with entrepreneurial talent, to motivate & train them through properly organized programs. Entrepreneurial Development Programme : Entrepreneurial Development Programme The EDP thus became a new concept for harnessing the vast untapped human resources. It strikes a welcome note in respect of change in perception & in recognition of critical role the entrepreneurs play in Industrial Development by creating potential avenues for self-development. Slide 4: Entrepreneurship Development Program covers the entire venture creation process, from idea generation to building viable global businesses, with special emphasis on the nurturing roles of corporations, universities, governments, and foundations. Using entrepreneurial culture as a model, participants learn what they need to know in order to develop ideas into successful businesses and to increase entrepreneurial opportunities in their corporations, institutions, and regions. Faculty Development Programme (FDP) : Faculty Development Programme (FDP) A Faculty Development Programme (FDP) is designed to train and develop professionals in entrepreneurship development so that they can act as resource persons in guiding and motivating young persons to take up entrepreneurship as a career. The FDPs provide inputs on process and practice of entrepreneurship development, communication and inter-personal skills, creativity, problem solving, achievement motivation training, inputs on resource and knowledge industries. The training methodology includes case studies, group discussion, games and simulation exercise, field visits and classroom lectures. Features of EDP : Features of EDP Identification and careful selection of entrepreneurs for training Developing the entrepreneurial capabilities of the trainee Equipping the trainee with basic managerial understanding Helping him to secure necessary financial infrastructural and related assistance Objectives of EDP : Objectives of EDP To identify the potential entrepreneurs. To develop necessary knowledge & skills among the participants. To understand the process & procedure of setting up of small business. To train the entrepreneurs to understand environmental threats & opportunities Slide 8: To provide help in identification and formulation of viable projects To impart training in managerial understanding and skills To provide post training assistance and monitoring facilities Focus of EDP : Focus of EDP EDPs should help develop latent facilities of those who possess the potential of becoming entrepreneurs. Understanding the type of input that are required by a group of entrepreneurs should be understood clearly & the training program tailored accordingly. Training be not only to set up an industrial venture but also to enable the trainees to run it successfully. Slide 10: The focus should be on the persons rather than on the project. These programs should be conducted in place where necessary infrastructure for training is available. One of the objective of training should be on changing the attitude & mindset of young people from security oriented activities to risk taking activities. Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) makes entrepreneurs for creation of entrepreneurship environment. In India, in every five plan year more and more amount is allotted for entrepreneurship development. EDPs have played very determining role for bringing poor, exploited and weaker class of our society into economic development.
