Introduction : 

Introduction Welcome to this tutorial on how to create your own website to showcase your career portfolio using Weebly. As a pre-requisite Learners need to have Reviewed the WebQuest provided to them and understood what online career portfolios are, their benefits, steps involved and should also have created necessary content that meets criteria stated by the following Assessment rubric Are connected to the Internet throughout this tutorial as you may be directed to various website resources.

Overview of Process : 

Overview of Process The initial part of the process is reviewing the WebQuest and creating required content for the career portfolio which is a pre-requisite for the course. This is followed by the following steps Step 1 - Locate and Open web browser. Step 2 - Open required Weebly site. Step 3 - Create a Weebly account. Step 4 - Create an appropriate title for Website. Step 5 - Create a suitable Domain name. Step 6 - Create Website Step 7 - Publish, evaluate and edit Website Step 8 - Share published website with Instructor or prospective recruiter.

Step 1 - Locate and Open web browser. : 

Step 1 - Locate and Open web browser. Locate the Web Browser on your page i.e. Internet Explorer, Mozilla etc  Open Web Browser by double clicking on the icon.

Step 2 – Open Weebly site : 

Step 2 – Open Weebly site Enter given URL http://www.weebly.com/ into the address bar of the web browser.

Step 3 – Create a Weebly account : 

Step 3 – Create a Weebly account Once into Weebly, Enter Username, Password and existing email address Click on sign up

Step 4 – Create title for Website : 

Step 4 – Create title for Website Enter suitable title for website that is professional and reflects purpose of creating the website. Choose appropriate type for site For e.g. Portfolio or Business Click continue

Step 5 – Create domain name : 

Step 5 – Create domain name Use the following Weebly support link on domain names http://help.weebly.com/domains--email.html and Wikipedia link on domain names http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_name to understand what Domains are and how to create a domain name for their website (Note: Using a sub domain of Weebly is Free, New domain is not) Enter domain name that is unique and reflects your identity, for e.g. LastnameOnlineCareer Portfolio Click continue

Step 6 – Create website (contd.) Design The design option in Weebly provides a wide range of themes to choose from which determine the overall appearance of the site. Click the Design option and choose an appropriate theme that is professional and visually appealing. Use the following Weebly link to learn more about the options available and how to use them - Design Option

Step 6 – Create website (contd.) Pages Through the pages option in Weebly you can create as many pages you need. It also helps you format your content in an organized and professional format. The following Weebly Links guide you on how to use Pages and also provides information on the different options under pages, Create a New Page and More on pages Using the provided links and the WebQuest resources, please create required pages for your website such as Home, Professional profile, Resume, professional artifacts, contact me or any other desired page that is relevant to your career portfolio.

Step 6 – Create website (contd.) Elements Elements are the basic building blocks of your site.  All of your site content, be it text, pictures, videos or what you have, is added via an element. The following Weebly links provide a detailed description of how to use the various elements, TheFirstElements, Elements Layout, Text & Images and Embed an Audio or video Using the above links you can add content/images/videos to your Home page, Professional profile/About me page, Resume, Professional artifacts and Contact me page. Please remember to use the WebQuest resources and rubric guidelines while adding content and formatting your pages.

It also contains information how to use advanced features of Weebly which learners can use for future projects and reference To utilize the help option please click on the help option in Weebly or the following link Weebly Support

Step 7 - Publish, evaluate and edit Website : 

Step 7 - Publish, evaluate and edit Website Once you have created your website use the WebQuest resources, the task analysis chart and rubrics to review your site and verify whether required criteria has been met Then Publish site by clicking on the publish option. Weebly then provides a unique URL for your site which you click on to view your site. Review and evaluate again. To make modifications, you would have to go back to your website editing page.

Step 8 - Share published website : 

Step 8 - Share published website Once published, copy URL link generated by Weebly for website created and send to Instructor via email for evaluation or to prospective recruiter.
