GLOBAL WARMING:

GLOBAL WARMING Global warming is for real. Every scientist knows that now, and we are on our way to the destruction of every species on earth, if we don't pay attention and reverse our course.

CLIMATE OF INDIA:

CLIMATE OF INDIA India has a population of around 12.2 million which may rise to 16.3 million by 2050 The land area of India is 3287263 sq.km which is not going to increase. But sea level rise by the turn f the century will be about 60cm.

PowerPoint Presentation:

With an Indian coastline of about 7500km the east coast of India will be affected the most with the sea inundating up to 40km The coastal area is heavily populated. The loss of resources is beyond imaginable. Two megacities Chennai and Mumbai are going to lose their area to rising sea level the people movement will start towards interior from coastal area. I have not forgotten the Dec26, 2004 Tsunami in Eastern Coast of India. The condition of Chennai was drastically changed within a hour.

PowerPoint Presentation:

This map created by TERI in 1996 shows the projected vulnerable areas due to rise in sea level. Today if conducted again in 2014 the affected area would be much more.

AGRICULTURE IN INDIA:

AGRICULTURE IN INDIA The agricultural sector represents 14% of India’s Gross National Product (GNP) It employs 52% of India labor force. Indian agriculture is facing challenges from several factors such as increased competition for land, water and labor from non-agricultural sectors and increasing climatic variability. Indian agriculture is facing challenges from several factors such as increased competition for land, water and labor from increasing climatic variability. The latter, associated with global warming, will result in considerable annual fluctuations in food production.

PowerPoint Presentation:

The effects of global warming will cause damage to coastal infrastructure, aquaculture and coastal tourism. The aquatic ecosystems such as mangroves, coral reefs and grass lands have also been affected by the climatic change. India per capita energy consumption is 753kwh. No of vehicle per thousand population in India is 18, USA 797, Canada 607 &UK 519. 68% of Population lives in Rural India. If all country maintain the socioeconomic standard of Rural India, It would have taken another 100 years to meet the rising temperature of +4C. Climate Change is a universal phenomenon. We will have to create awareness throughout the world to reduce the emission of developed countries those are mainly responsible for GHG emission
