Pranab’s way : 

Pranab’s way Allocation to the power sector has been doubled to Rs 5,130 crore . Setting up of 20,000 MW of solar power by 2022. The Centre is targeting to add new capacity of 78,700 MW of capacity by 2012. Allocation for renewable energy has been increased to Rs 1,000 crore

Taxes and additional cess : 

Taxes and additional cess A cess of Rs 50 per tonne has been levied on coal. Excise duty has been hiked to 10% from 8%. Excise duty on photo-voltaic and solar panels has been waived while central excise on LED lights have been cut to 4%. Excise duty lowered from 12% to 8%.

Requirement for budget 2010-11. Transmission Strategy with focus on development of National Grid including Interstate connections, Distribution strategy to achieve Distribution Reforms with focus on System up gradation, loss reduction, Regulation Strategy aimed at protecting Consumer interests and making the sector commercially viable Financing Strategy to generate resources for required growth of the power sector. Communication Strategy for political consensus with media support to enhance public awareness.
