Like other cancers, breast cancer can spread throughout the body. Only a small fraction of breast cancer cases can be linked to genetics. Slide 3: Know your facts: Slide 4: Seventy-seven percent of women with breast cancer are over 50. Slide 5: Approximately 1 in almost every 8 women (12.5%) will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Slide 6: The symptoms of breast cancer include: A mass or lump, which may feel as small as a pea. A change in the feel, size, shape, or contour of the breast. A blood-stained or clear fluid discharge from the nipple. Redness of the skin on the breast or nipple. An area that is distinctly different from any other area on either breast. A marble-like hardened area under the skin. Slide 7: 61% of breast cancer cases are diagnosed before the cancer has spread outside the breast; 5-year relative survival rates for these cancers is 98.1% Slide 8: Out of every one hundred cases of breast cancer, one will occur in a man. Slide 9: Women are less at risk of developing breast cancer if they eat a healthy diet and exercise.
