In the Karakoram range, the highest peak is K2 (8,611 m or 28,244 feet). including K2, the second highest peak of the world (8,611 m/28,251 ft) .Contains rugged landscape and cold climate because of its high altitude. Agriculture is practiced and have the famous Karakorum highway to China. Location of Range:The Himalaya Range: The Himalaya Range The Himalayas are situated at the South of Karakoram and Runs East to West. It has an altitude of 4000m.It contains Siwalihs,Lower Himalayas and Central Himalayas. The Siwalihs have a low altitude of 600 to 1200 m and is located near Attock.The lower Himalayas have a medium altitude and are located in the Pir Panjal range. It is also the home to many famous tourist attractions like Muree, Nathia Gali and Ghora gali. The central Himalayas lie in kashmir and are snow capped and contain glaciers. Location of Range:The Hindu kush range: The Hindu kush range The Hindu Kush is an 800 km (500 mi) long mountain range that stretches between central Afghanistan and northern Pastan . The highest point in the Hindu Kush is Tirich Mir (7,708 m or 25,289 ft ) iThe mountains of the Hindu Kush system diminish in height as they stretch westward: Toward the middle, near Kabul, they extend from 4,500 to 6,000 meters (14,700 feet to 19,100 feet); in the west, they attain heights of 3,500 to 4,000 meters (11,500 feet to 13,000 feet). The average altitude of the Hindu Kush is 4,500 meters (14,700 feet). The Hindu Kush system stretches about 966 kilometres (600 mi) laterally, and its median north-south measurement is about 240 kilometres (150 mi). The northern area of Pakistan is enriched with the variety of mineral treasures that include peridot , emerald, aquamarine, tourmaline, topaz, ruby, sapphire, garnet, red spinel, pargasite , actinolite , diopside , epidote , vesuvianite , axinite , rodingite , sphene , fluorite, apatite, zircon, rutile, azurite, moonstone, amethyst, rose quartz and agate. The following is a list of the most common precious gemstones that can be mined if mining is properly organized in Northern Mountains Aquamarine It is found in Chitral , Kaghan , the Shigar valley of Baltistan and the Neelam Valley of Azad Kashmir. Aquamarine is transparent and ranges in colour from sky blue to sea green. A proper sized gem aquamarine costs 40$ Emerald Emeralds are geologically rare, but fine specimens are located in Swat, Pakistan. Currently Pakistan earns Rs.4,740,000 on average in the winters due to the large number of tourist that come to enjoy the holydays in Pakistan’s cold mountains and tour them.Trading: Trading In the karakoram mountains the famous Karakoram Highway connects Pakistan to China and it is also a trade route.Pakistan has an advantage for trading with china as this border links them both.. They are also linked with Afghanistan via the wathan strip. So Pakistan easily trades with these countries and sell goods like timber , mangoes , cotton etc. for high profit.
