GOVERNMENT’S ROLE IN SUPPORTING ENVIRONMENTAL CAMPAIGN The GTFS is a special financing scheme introduced by the government to support the development of Green Technology (GT) in Malaysia. It was announced by the Prime Minister in the Budget 2010 presentation with a total financing scheme amounting to RM1.5 billion.

ITA- INVESTMENT TAX ALLOWANCE GBI-GREEN BUILDING INDEX Companies which are active in the field of Energy generation out of renewable resources or in the field of Energy Efficiency can apply for the “Pioneer”-Status . This leads to a tax exemption up to 100% for up to 10 years . Optional the “Investment Tax Allowance” could be used to reduce the tax burden by higher depreciation values. Goods used for the Energy generation out of renewable resources or Energy Efficiency are exempted from Import Duty and Sales Tax. Income received from trading with “Certified Emission Reduction” certificates is tax exempted. Energy Efficiency Incentive Companies Providing Energy Saving Services: Pioneer status with tax exemption of 70% of statutory income for a period of 5 years or Investment Tax Allowance of 60% on the qualifying capital expenditure incurred within a period of 5 years with the allowance deducted in each year of assessment be set-off against 70% of statutory income; and Import duty and sales tax exemption for equipment used in the related project, which are not produced locally. Equipment purchased from local manufacturers is given sales tax exemption. These incentives are for applications received from 28 October 2000 until 31 December 2005.
