Success leads to expansion, and expansions magnifies issues that could have been previously overlooked Two focus issues: SAFETY PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS IntroductionSAFETY : SAFETYHold a Safety Meeting: Accidents and injuries have become a costly issue at Saladino’s Managers should hold a mandatory meeting for all employees involved in labor intense jobs to discuss reducing injuries Hold a Safety MeetingReducing Injuries: Avoid lifting frequently or for too many hours Managers should reduce the amount of lifting per worker Consider restructuring the job so employees have to lift less frequently Employees should notify a manager if they feel pain from lifting Reducing InjuriesReducing Injuries: Avoid lifting objects from the floor Managers should advise employees to never lift and twist at the same time Lifting from the floor increases the chance of back strains Set all objects at hip level Move the destination closer to the object Reducing InjuriesReducing Injuries: Avoid lifting objects that are too difficult to handle or too heavy Minimize the amount of weight lifted by packaging objects into smaller boxes Provide handles for better grip Muscle force is more intense when the object is far from the body Employees should ask a manager or co-worker for help if the object is not manageable.
