With the Thanksgiving holiday behind we now have Christmas to look forward to, followed by New Year's Day and Valentine's Day. And while I enjoy the winter holidays as much as anyone else I can't help but look forward to the emergence of spring and the return of my t-shirts and shorts.

I imagine if I'm thinking this way, there must be bikers all over the country already dreaming of Daytona Bike Week next March. It will be a great time to reconnect with old friends, make plans for 2012, and restock one's collection of biker t-shirts, patches, and other things.

Part of the thrill of being a biker is that feeling of riding down the open road unencumbered. Feeling the wind blow past your face, the warm sun on your exposed skin, and the road moving beneath your wheels is what makes it all worthwhile. It's certainly better than being cooped up in a small car.

Never fear, bikers. Daytona Bike Week will be here sooner than you know. Until then, my t-shirts are packed away comfortably in my dresser dreaming of the day they will be pulled out again.

I will enjoy my Christmas holidays - and even maybe the snow - knowing that warm sunshine and blue skies await next May. Perhaps I'll even find a few new t-shirts under the tree this year. If so, I'll be sure to bring them with me to Daytona.

By the way, rallies like Daytona Bike Week are a great place to find all your biker gear. There will be plenty of retailers offering the latest goods including the officially recognized clothing. You'll be able to get hoodies, jackets, hats, tee shirts, wall posters, stickers, coffee mugs, and anything else you’re looking for.

Don't forget to get a new pair of riding glasses while you're there, too. A good pair of glasses is absolutely essential to keeping the sun and the bugs out of your eyes. Also, don't forget to wear your helmet. It is always a good idea even if your state doesn't require it. Just ask Big Ben or Gary Busey .
