Slide 1:

To Jesus through Mary 2nd week: sunday, 5 dec to saturday, 11 dec praying @ advent time painting by Gentile de Fabriano

Slide 2:

With each breath you slowly take, recall God’s presence. Rest in God. Now, imagine God smiling at you and loving you. Dwell in God’s love. As you go through the following slides, take time to pause…to ponder….to feel God’s Spirit within you. Settling into God’s presence

Slide 3:

Begin by speaking to the Lord “Dear Jesus, I am eager to meet you this Christmas. The people in darkness awaited God’s gift of peace. You are God’s peace: You reconciled them and us with God. Teach me in my darkness that Your Love leads me onward to You, our Prince of Peace. Amen.”

Slide 4:

Waiting… hoping… Mary, and all of Israel, awaited God’s promised peace. They yearned for peace in a time of oppression and suffering, of confusion and uncertainty. We may be in turbulent or changing or confusing times. We may be uncertain of the future. And so, we too may be longing for God’s peace. This second Sunday of Advent, we read these lines of Isaiah about Jesus, the promised Peace. Mary too would have read these lines…

Slide 5:

Waiting… hoping… Isaiah 11: 1-2, 5-9 There shall come forth from a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots. The spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him: a spirit of wisdom and of understanding, a spirit of counsel and of strength, a spirit of knowledge and of fear of the LORD…. Justice shall be the band around his waist, and faithfulness a belt upon his hips. Then the wolf shall be a guest of the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; the calf and the young lion shall browse together, with a little child to guide them. The cow and the bear shall be neighbors, together their young shall rest…. There shall be no harm or ruin on all my holy mountain…. . With Mary, spend some time and ponder God’s promised peace to come. How do you feel? What are your thoughts?

Slide 6:

Isaiah’s words about the child of peace must have rang with expectant hope in Mary when she heard the Angel Gabriel say, “Rejoice, you who enjoy God’s favour! … You are to conceive in your womb and bear a son and you must name him Jesus … the child will be holy and will be called the Son of God.” Christmas is coming. Are you excited that the peace the world needs… that you need… is Jesus? Why? Annunciation byHenry O Tanner

Slide 7:

Spend some time and share with Mary your feelings and thoughts about preparing to receive Jesus, God’s gift of true peace for all humankind this Christmas. Use these words if they help… “Dear Mary, I see the Angel Gabriel’s words helped you to await the birth of your son, Jesus. I long for true peace in my busy life and for our troubled world. . Teach me to recognize Jesus as God’s Peace with us. Teach me to eagerly await Jesus’ birth this advent time.” Annunciation byHenry O Tanner

Slide 8:

Be quiet for a moment. Recall all that this prayer time has been for you. End by speaking to the Lord: “Dear Jesus, As I continue my advent wait with Mary, I ask for the grace of wisdom. Grant me wisdom so that I can prepare well to receive Your gift of Peace with gladness. I make this prayer with hope because I believe Your Peace is Your Christmas gift.” Glory be to the Father...
