Unique identification authority of INDIA :

Unique identification authority of INDIA It’s an agency of Government of India. It was established in February 2009. Its main aim is to provide unique identity / number to all Indians.

Introduction (1 of 3) The brand name of the Unique Identification number (UID) is “ Aadhaar ”. Its name is Aadhaar because this word exist in almost all Indian languages. Identify Indian citizens so that better security can be provided by identifying illegal immigrants and terrorists. UID will enable us to use all id based applications like ration card, passport, license etc.

Introduction(2 of 3) A person is to be identified by the place of birth and date of birth with serial number 12 digit serial number Serial number will be given on first cum first served basis It can be generated at the time of Birth Much of the poor and unreserved population lack identity documents and the UID may be the first form of identification they will have access to.

Introduction(3 of 3) Aadhaar UID number can be used by ration card, passport or any ID based application. It will not replace other ID’s. It will eliminate the problem of duplicate identities and documentation. The Aadhaar submitted is used for 1:1 match for the resident's record.

DESIGN OF UID CARD The identity card being given to each individual citizen has a microprocessor chip with a memory of 64 KB which is enough space to accommodate all service links and makes it secure. UID card

Security The unique identification number will be based on a sophisticated application called SCOSTA . ( Smart Card Operating System Standard for Transport Application ) A secured electronic device that’s used for keeping data & other info in a way that only authorized persons can view it.

Application Architecture [1] UIDAI:- The Authority will issue Aadhaar It will design and develop Registrars:- These are public and private organizations. They will collect documentation – such as proof of residence, and proof of identity from residents

Application Architecture [2] Enrolment Agency:- An agency contracted by the Registrar. Enrolment agencies must collect demographic data prior to an enrolment drive. They must notify residents and UIDAI, of the enrolment schedule in advance. Resident:- A resident is defined as a natural person, usually residing in India.

Technology will play most important role in the UIDAI system:

Technology will play most important role in the UIDAI system Technology systems will have a major role across the UIDAI infrastructure. The Aadhaar database will be stored on a central server. Enrolment of the residents will be computerized, and information exchange between Registrars and the CIDR will take place over a network. The Authority will also put systems in place for the security and safety of information.

Process to ensure no duplicates:

Process to ensure no duplicates Registrars will send the applicant's data to the CIDR for de-duplication. The CIDR will perform a search on key demographic fields and on the biometrics for each new enrolment, to minimize/eliminate duplicates in the database

Conclusion Unique Identification System will be beneficiary to the citizens as it is a unique number which contains basic information of every person. After the ID will be issued there is no need to carry driving license, voter cards, pan card, etc for any govt. or private work.
