Truly an identity of the city the City Palace of Udaipur is a majestic heritage building in
the heart of the city. Made of the finest combination of granite and white marble this
magnificent palace is an architectural marvel overlooking the aquamarine expanses of
the Lake Pichola. This beautiful art of piece displays the finest elements of Rajput
culture and arts. Historically the palace was built by Maharana Udai Singh of the ruling
Sisodia clan at different times from 1559 A.D. while the construction work was further
extended to its present form by subsequent Maharanas. There are several spectacular
building within the palace which has a heavy impression of European and Chinese
architecture. The balconies of this white shining marble palace offer excellent pictorial

Sahelion ki Bari literally means the garden of maidens which was built by Maharana
Sangram Singh during the mid 18th century. It is one of the most popular sightseeing
places in the city. It features pools with graceful kiosks flowerbeds carefully manicured
lawns pools charming fountains and an array of trees that all together make this
garden noticeable. In this garden there is a sitting room that is festooned with paintings

Lake Palace formerly known as Jag Niwas is idyllically positioned on an island in the
middle of Lake Pichola. The palace was originally built as the summer palace under the
direction of the Maharana Jagat Singh II 62nd successor to the royal dynasty of
Mewar of Udaipur during 1743-1746. However now it has been converted into a
luxurious five star hotel taken over by Taj Group of Hotels. Owing to its picturesque as

The next palace in the list is Fateh Prakash Palace. Bearing unique turrets and majestic
domes Fateh Prakash Palace is another grand Heritage Palace built along the banks of
Lake Pichola. The palace has been named after Maharana Fateh Singh period of reign:
1884-1935 one of Mewar dynastys greatest rulers. This grand art of work is a
repository of exquisite artworks such as chandeliers rare paintings unique crystal and
crockery collections. Fateh Prakash Palace is another luxury heritage hotel of Udaipur

Jag Mandir is another majestic structure located towards the south of the lake Pichola.
This palace was completed by Maharana Jagat Singh I reigned 1628-1652 and was
further developed by Rana Karan Singh 1620-28. This palace holds a historical
significance as it has a structure that had been built to give shelter to Prince Khurram
later Emperor Shah Jahan in 1626 when he was about to revolt against his father
Emperor Jahangir.

It is another great place to see in Udaipur which was built by Amir Chand Badwa the
Prime Minister of Mewar. Located on the waterfront of Lake Pichola it is an 18th
century monument that displays a selection of costumes and modern art. Interiors of the
mansion are decorated with delicate and exquisite glass and mirror work. After the
death of Badwa the building was captured by Maharana Shakti Singh of Bagore. From
here on the place was called as Bagore Ki Haveli.
