INTRODUCTION:

INTRODUCTION Global positioning system (GPS), space-based radio navigation system, consisting of 24 satellites and ground support, that provides accurate, three-dimensional position, velocity, and time, 24 hours a day, everywhere in the world, and in all weather conditions. Because the user doesn’t communicate to the satellite, GPS serves an unlimited number of users .

PowerPoint Presentation:

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a worldwide radio-navigation system formed from a constellation of 24 satellites and their ground stations. GPS uses these "man-made stars" as reference points to calculate positions accurate. In a sense it's like giving every square meter on the planet a unique address. GPS receivers have been miniaturized to just a few integrated circuits and so are becoming very economical What is GPS?

PowerPoint Presentation:

How GPS works ? GPS works in 5 Step, step’s are as follows.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Step 1- Triangulation

PowerPoint Presentation:

Step 2 – Measuring distance

PowerPoint Presentation:

Step 3- Getting perfect timing

PowerPoint Presentation:

Step 4 - Satellites position

PowerPoint Presentation:

Step 5 – Determining a position

PowerPoint Presentation:

" Where am I going?" GPS helps you determine exactly where you are, but sometimes important to know how to get somewhere else. GPS was originally designed to provide navigation information for ships and planes. It's interesting that the sea, one of our oldest channels of transportation, has been revolutionized by GPS , the newest navigation technology. Trimble introduced the world's first GPS receiver for marine navigation in 1985. And as you would expect, navigating the world's oceans and water ways is more precise than ever Navigation

Natural Resource Applications:- Urban Applications :- Agricultural Mapping :- Social Science Application :- APPLICATIONS OF GPS

PowerPoint Presentation:

GPS is being used by scientists to study the ongoing deformation of the crust in Southern California caused by the San Andreas fault and other faults in the LA Basin. The Southern California Integrated GPS Network (SCIGN) measures the millimetre-scale movements of the crust between earthquakes , and also records displacement of stations during earthquakes, but it does not measure the actual shaking of the ground caused by an earthquake. USING GPS TO MEASURE EARTHQUAKES

PowerPoint Presentation:

As the world walking with the new technologies, GPS is adding one step for going forward.GPS technology has matured into a resource that goes far beyond its original design goals. These days scientists, sportsmen, farmers, soldiers, pilots, surveyors, hikers, delivery drivers, sailors, dispatchers, lumberjacks, fire-fighters, and people from many other walks of life are using GPS in ways that make their work more productive, safer, and sometimes even easier GPS changed the navigation forever and soon it will become almost as basic as telephone. Indeed we think it just may become a universal utility. CONCLUSION
