It becomes an integral part of an addict's life where they feel they are living in a rosy world without stress and strain. The primary factor to be aware of when thinking of quitting smoking marijuana is to find out whether is chemically addictive. According to medical findings, marijuana is not as addictive as cigarettes or heroin. In marijuana smoking, intense craving does not occur during the phase of quitting. Neither does marijuana affect the receptors of the brain which makes quitting marijuana not too difficult. The primary reason for rejecting quitting smoking marijuana is the memory of the highs the addict experienced when indulging in marijuana smoking. Another problem lies with the immediate associates of the marijuana smoker who may still be into the practice of smoking it and would make it difficult for the addict to quit smoking marijuana. However, while quitting it does not create the internal craving, it is easier for the addict to forgo it. It is only the psychological need which can be overcome through strong will power and strength of mind. This is, however, a difficult proposition especially for those who have been smoking marijuana for years. Quitting is always associated with depression and anxiety as the addict slowly learns to live without constant smoking. In such cases, a suitable replacement for marijuana smoking, which is creative and not destructive, needs to be identified. Some find chewing gums or consuming small quantity of alcohol a suitable alternative. An addict ultimately realizes the benefits of quitting marijuana smoking once he / she kicks the habit.
