Introduction: 

Introduction Gene is a certain fragment of DNA (Deoxyribose nucleic acid). The DNA is a long polynuclotide chain present in all the prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell. Chromosome of the eukaryotic cell is complex structure. It consist of very long chain of DNA. Single eukaryotic chromosome contains several hundreds of gene. Simple double stranded DNA is a chromosome of prokaryotic cell and it carries hundreds of genes.

Properties of Gene: 

Properties of Gene Gene (certain DNA fragment) is able to replicate to prepare exact of it by semi- conservation mechanism.

Muton:

Gene is able to repair to damage.: 

Gene is able to repair to damage. There are several chemical and physical and biological factors which damage the DNA that affects the primary structure of double helix. The specific DNA repair molecules bind at or near the site of damage, inducing other molecules to bind and form a complex that enables the actual repair to take place.

Gene is a Unit of Structure and Function.: 

Gene is a Unit of Structure and Function. Gene (Cistron) is a unit of structure. Gene directs the synthesis of protein through m-RNA. Thus the sequences of amino acids in the polypeptide chain is determine by sequences of nucleotides of a gene. The correct nucleotide sequence of a gene direct to produce the polypeptide (protein) with correct sequence of amino acids. Many of proteins performs variety of functions. Their native structure enable it to perform its respective function and it the structure of native protein change then the protein fails to perform its own function.
