300,000 That is the number of estimated child soldiers around the world today…. And that amount is still growing every year.

Slide 3:

The child soldiers are told they will be killed if they disobey any orders or try to escape .

Slide 4:

Child soldiers are being used in wars around the world , in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Congo, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Burma.

Slide 5:

The youngest boys are placed closest to the enemy … Boys as young as eight can be armed.

Slide 6:

Usually they have a brutal initiation and have to kill or disfigure those who have attempted to flee.

Slide 7:

They are easy to manipulate , and both sides believe that the unpredictability of children makes them better fighters . Some are sent into battle high on drugs to give them courage.

Slide 8:

While boys make up most of the child soldiers around the world, there are also girl soldiers that are in the groups that fight , and used as wives or to perform sexual services to the other male soldiers.

Slide 9:

The want for child soldiers also causes more human trafficking/abduction around the world, as well as spreads HIV/AID because the children are being exposed to sex.

Lastly, the innocent look of each child makes them seem harmless, when actually, they are brainwashed little weapons.
