Premium member Presentation Transcript My Name is Daniel West : My Name is Daniel West Slide 2: I look like your average 4 year old I am known as the kid with the crazy hair : I am known as the kid with the crazy hair What you might not know is that I have Cystic Fibrosis : What you might not know is that I have Cystic Fibrosis Also known as CF, it causes thick sticky mucus to clog my pancreas & lungs which makes me get a lot of respiratory infections and need to take a lot of medicine every day : Also known as CF, it causes thick sticky mucus to clog my pancreas & lungs which makes me get a lot of respiratory infections and need to take a lot of medicine every day Slide 14: I work hard every day to help keep my lungs healthy. I run around and exercise. I also do air way clearance therapies anywhere up to an hour every day to clear my airways. I don’t like this but it helps me breath more easily. Slide 15: Every day I do about half an hour of breathing exercises with my PEP or if I am unwell I do it twice a day. Slide 16: I wear my vest for 20 minutes twice a day or 3 times a day when I am unwell. It vibrates all the mucus in my lungs loosening it up so I can cough it out. Slide 17: Or we do my least favourite. I call this “Pat Pat” because Mum or Dad beat my chest, back and sides for about half an hour to loosen that yucky mucus off my lungs.
