What is RTI?:

What is RTI? Response to Intervention (RTI) is providing quality instruction matched to the needs of the student that is intensive and includes progress monitoring to use for student evaluation Three Key Elements: High Quality Instruction Measurement of Learning Rate & Performance Levels Data Review for Decision Making Regarding Intensity & Duration

RTI School Wide Tier Model Tier 1– 80-90% of Students Tier 2 – 5-10% of Students Tier 3– 1-5% of Students:

RTI Breakdown:

RTI Breakdown Tier 1 All Students General education with regularly scheduled progress monitoring Tier 2 5-10% of Students Intensive small-group scientifically-based instruction with progress monitoring Tier 3 1- 5% of Students More intensive instruction; possible referral for special education services

Summary of the Benefits of RTI Studies of data show that consistent use of RTI procedures are a benefit for all students RTI interventions have shown to reduce the number of students being referred for special education services Effective RTI interventions require time and thorough training of all personnel RTI interventions combined with a balanced literacy program in the classroom is more beneficial
