Premium member Presentation Transcript CFDP/CMDRR IN NORTH EAST INDIA : It is a Joint DIPECHO-Caritas Supported Programme CFDP/CMDRR IN NORTH EAST INDIA PROJECT AREAS : PROJECT AREAS State 03 District 07 Block 10 Council 20 Panchayat 20 No. of village 65 No. of families 9880 Population 28562 State 03 District 06 Block 10 Council 20 Panchayat 27 No. of village 75 No. of families 90226 Population 45468 HAZARD SITUATION : HAZARD SITUATION The main natural hazards in North-East India are annual floods, earthquakes, river erosion and landslides. Each of these hazards have their own characteristics which are unique in nature and different from those in the rest of India SITUATION : SITUATION Floods in Assam occur a couple or more times each year. In some parts water-logging is there for a short period of time while in other parts it continues for 3 to 4 months. Tripura is facing flash flood, gradual flood and river bank erosion Meghalaya is facing cyclone and gradual flood Caritas Intervention : Caritas Intervention Because of this situations Caritas launched CFDP programme in NE with the following Principal Objective: Communities and families in disaster-prone areas empowered to cope with and take action to effectively reduce the adverse impact of floods, cyclonic winds and erosion.
